Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters was formerly the Australian Shark and Ray Centre Port Stephens! Still offering the amazing experience of swimming and interacting with Sharks and Rays, Irukandji now has a guided tour included for all visitors, exciting new changes to the existing exhibits and NEW Exhibits coming soon.

The new owners are passionate and dedicated to our Ocean's conservation and Marine Science. Every visitor can learn about the ocean depths and step outside their comfort zone by diving in with these amazing ambassador animals. Once you have experienced these majestic creatures individual personalities, you will have the confidence to take the next step and dive Looking Glass, a popular Nelson Bay shark dive site.

Wondering about the name Irukandji? The Irukandji Jellyfish may be the most deadly thing in the world! Coming soon you will see them with your own eyes and learn about the Jellyfish blooms that are currently taking over the ocean like never in history.

If you are after an out of this world experience that can be shared with the whole family (even tiny babies get a wetsuit and booties for a swim with the Sharks) then Irukandji is your next adventure waiting to happen.

It was AMAZING! All animals taken well care of (most being rescue animals), knowledgable staff, and very interactive. Be sure to get in the water with the sharks and rays, it's seriously amazing and worth the payment. We are three adults and had a great time feeding and patting them!!! Allow a couple of hours so you don't have to... More

WE HAD THE BEST TIME. Staff are friendly, educated and sure to make you feel welcome. Got to pat & feed sharks and stingrays, got a great tour from their own marine conservationist. They gladly used my phone to take photos and videos, we had the best time. Go and support these guys, they're doing the right thing.

This was so awesome. Getting to feed the rays and sharks upfront and touch them. It was very educational and I learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend.

Hi Boyd h, Thank you for your review! You must have been 3 years ago when it was the Australian Shark and Ray Centre, as we have not given out cups of prawns since then! Our food is all included in your now interactive guided tour! It takes about 1.5 hours and you don't have to worry about them being... More

Visited on a family holiday with kids 6 & 17 year old. Decided to get up close and personal with the wildlife which added to the cost somewhat; we opted for the wet-suits & Crocs instead of waders. There are 3 pools as part of the tour/talk where you can touch and feed the various stingrays and sharks, with the... More

One of the best sheds I have ever been too. Very educational in a fun and engaging environment. Allowed the kids to overcome fear of rays and sharks. Highly recommended, pay the extra to get in the water if you can.

Wow. If I could sum it up in one word it would be wow. An absolutely wonderful experience. Highly educational, completely safe and very fascinating. I highly recommend this to anyone of any age. The sharks and rays are very inquisitive and love to come up close to say hello! Wonderful experience.
