Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an historic collection of equipment, photographs and memorabilia associated with sheep farming and shearing. There is also an authentic farm kitchen transported from the original property and set up in this museum. You can see everything involved in shearing sheep, and you can even buy a merino wool singlet or T Shirt if you are inclined.

The enterprise is run by volunteers, the Shed itself is overseen by Frank Walsh who has grown old and retired from the wool shed life. There is a photo of him on the wall as a younger man leaping up and down on the wool press, helping to compress the wool clip into bales.

Here they have the actual shearing gear, the back supports, the wool presses, a large collection of lanterns, industrial furniture. For me the best thing of all was getting to talk to Frank and hearing from an old shearer himself, how it was in the sheds. When we asked Frank if they served tea, he said, he would love to make us a cuppa in his own kitchen there. I would have loved to accept and keep talking with him to hear the stories.

The Shed is located on the Mitchell Highway which passes through Nyngan. You can easily pull off the road and park. There are nice clean toilets for travellers: Ewes and Rams. This is really worth a stop because now you are in Wool Country and it helps to understand more about the farming in this part of the State.

Very interesting if you have an interest in the Shearing game. My husband thoroughly enjoyed himself, the teens not so much 🤣
Good value for a quick travel stop.

The old local retired shearers and volunteers have put so much work into this museum. The history is thorough and there is even a bibliography on all the local shearers from days gone by. It may be small but packed with history and displays. The walls are even covered with artworks from a local artist. Well worth a visit. As a local and a woolclasser I could spend all day there but unless you have my shed passion you’d probably only want an hour or so.

Well worth a visit but don’t expect anything from the volunteers who are on duty. Terrific displays, photos and memorabilia but you have to work things out for yourself which is a shame as many visitors wouldn’t be familiar with the shearing game.
