Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little beach for families. Lots of grass areas for picnics and calm and clean water for cooling off. Kiosk near by and ice cream truck seemed to be there most of the time too.

Scenic and safe beach with easy parking and amenities close by. Water is usually clean and clear, safe for smaller children. I even saw two dolphins 25m from shore. Nothing here for adrenaline junkies, but great for young families

Well-worth visiting, especially the Little Beach Boathouse restaurant. The bay is protected so good for a swim.

This is a great spot if you wish to launch a boat or fish, not so much if you are looking for touristy things to do. There are pelicans here and plenty of parking.

Love Little Beach - a good sheltered swimming spot even late into the season. Pleased to see the restaurant back in action too (our last visit was 2019 -Covid)

Having caught the ferry from Tea Gardens, we walked from the marina to the Nelson Bay Lighthouse, passing by Little Beach on the way. Following the coastal path, Little Beach was no more than 10 minutes to walk from the ferry.
It is a small, calm beach on the bay with gently lapping water and a stretch of clean sand. More like a large swimming pool, it will suit small children and those who only want to paddle or float lazily around in the water.
Above the beach, a grassy verge has several shady trees. There were more towels and blankets spread out on the grass, than there were on the sand.
For a small beach, it certainly had a lot of facilities. Kids were fishing from the jetty at one end and there’s a boat ramp at the other end with a dedicated area for cleaning and scaling your catch, a magnet for pelicans who quickly gather to scavenge any scraps.
A series of ramps into the bay allows direct wheelchair access to the water.
There’s also a The Boathouse restaurant, a playground, toilet block and outdoor gym equipment. For a small beach, you pretty much have everything you’d need on hand.

We have been to Little Beach Reserve in numerous occasions. It is a lovely spot with great views over Port Stephens, safe swimming, a launching Ramp, picnic tables and amenities.
Unfortunately, when the wind blows from the northwest in the winter months it is really very unpleasant. Watched the Seagulls soar in the wind and the Pelicans sitting on the ramp before finding a place out of the wind.

While this is not the most popular beach in the area it is a great little spot for families to bring their children along. The waters are calm and shallow for children to have a little swim and play and there is also a children’s playground. There is some shaded parts to this beach which is great for those that don’t particularly enjoy being in the sun all day. There is a grassy area for those that don’t enjoy the sand too much and there are also toilets as well. Overall it is a nice beach if you don’t want to go to the others nearby. Would come back here.

Little beach reserve is fabulous for families as there is a playground, grassy areas with tables and chairs. The pelicans are also heaps of fun to watch along the beach.
