Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When the cottage is closed you can get a key from the Info Centre next door. We were lucky and were attended by Gwen who gave us fascinating background to the hardwood slab cottage from 1889 which had been moved from another location and was left just as it was originally including newspaper wallpaper (updated due to the old papers falling off over time. The chamber pots were still under the small beds and the chimney was made of corrugated iron. One of the better little museums I have come across. Gwen was a fountain of knowledge.

We didn't have the opportunity to go inside the Pioneer Cottage but my husband and I really enjoyed looking at it from the outside as well as the shad out the back. Such a fabulous bit of history. Hopefully next time we are passing by we may get a chance to look inside.

Carmel and her sister volunteer here. Carmel's narrative relating to many of the historic items contained in the cottage - based on her living memory of their use - brought pioneer times to life. Its a fantastic experience for young and old. Highly recommend a leisurely visit and a chat with the sisters.

This museum is open every weekend and every second Wednesday or by appointment, (I'm not sure which Wednesday).
