Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After settling into our motel room we decided to go for a walk along the Boardwalk. It was very pleasant and easy flat walking along the lakeside. We were able to see a couple of waterbirds up fairly close and enjoyed the clouds turning pink with the sunset imminent.

A must. The weather was perfect and we heard bellbirds, whip birds, saw a blue wren, lizards, puffer fish, mud skippers and possibly mullet fish. At the end is a cafe where you can sit, sip and contemplate 🤔. Perfect!

The first time we tried to walk it, the weather was not great. We also nearly didn't find the boardwalk, as it tucked out of site behind a building which almost looks like privare property. I'm so glad we did find it, however. It is great - the water is so clear and the views lovely. I was a bit enviouls of the people who get to exercise along it every day

Nice place for a stroll with the family. Spot the tiny puffers or chase after a crab, with the kids.
Start at the Merimbula boardwalk parking and walk to market street, to the cafes/shops and back,
or start from Merimbula bridge, to dine or hire a boat at Merimbula Top Lake Boat Hire & Sunsets Kiosk, or pack a lunch and have it at the picnic tables at the entrance to the boardwalk, and head back

This is a good flat walk along the waters edge. We walked the full length to the kiosk and back ( 7k) but you can turn back at any time or rest on one of the many benches.
Beautiful walk listening to the many bell birds, seeing herons and other shore birds.
Highly recommended!

It is a pleasant walk with clear paths. A great place to visit in Merimbula, free of cost. Walking on a rainy day may not be a good idea because some parts of the boardwalk tend to get muddy and slippery.

A very pleasant walk beside lake, mangroves and oyster beds. Starting beside the bridge, or the other end at Lakewood Drive (where more parking spaces), is around 2km each way on mostly wooden boardwalk. Several seat and viewing spots along the way and range of information panels. Fully exposed, so hat and sunscreen recommended. BYO water. Suit most abilities but care will be required with children, as no barriers.

Pleasant, easy walk along the boardwalk. We were looking forward to having a coffee at the Sunsets Kiosk when we got to the end but unfortunately when we got there it was closed for renovations, despite their website and Facebook page saying otherwise. Disappointing but still a nice walk with different views depending on the tide.

My wife and I recently traveled to Merimbula and had heard about the boardwalk alongside the river. I decided to do it early one morning and was so glad I did. In many places you are walking over the water or right become it. There were bellbirds and whip birds in the trees nearby and very little other sounds. Came across a number of other people out walking, all were very friendly.
This is a must do for anyone visiting the area.

What a stunning walk. We took our children ranging from 6m-9yr, it was a long walk for the younger kids but we all loved it. Beautiful scenery, lots of fish and a gorgeous cafe at the end to grab a drink.
