Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ned's beach was a highlight of our trip. The sand is white and the water is so blue, so its great for snorkelling (however the surf can be a little rougher than other spots on the island as it isn't protected by the reef). Be sure to bring along some $1 coins to purchase pellets to feed the fish, as this is an experience not to be missed. Because of this, it tends to be busier than the other beaches but is definitely worth the visit.

What an excellent beach. You can hand feed the multitude of fish here (fish food provided for $1), go snorkeling amongst the excellent coral, spot green turtles and black-tip reef sharks in the late afternoon and bbq on the shores under the large shed. Water is clear and clean. Easy 10 minute cycle from town. Toilets and change rooms are here as well. Just watch out for the mutton birds sleeping on the road after dark.

This is definitely our favourite beach spot, for snorkelling, feeding fish and outdoor bbq.
The shed at this beach is open till 4pm, where you can hire snorkel gear and wetsuits. There is a honesty box. For $2 you can get a small cup of fish food and feed the fish. They come very close once you step in the water. There are two bbqs, one is a gas one and the other one is fire wood with wood underneath. This spot gets some small waves as well.

Wow! Ned’s beach deserves all of the hype and accolades. Nicely protected from most wind directions, the snorkelling is really good with plenty of corals, double header wrasse, turtles, tropical reef fish, Galapagos sharks ad of course the famous mullet and silver drummer feeding. Keep an eye out for the big spangled emperor and the bluefish. It’s also great for a dip or to just kick back and relax in the sun.
Hot tip: get yourself a water proof camera, and yes, the fish can bite accidentally!

By far the best beach on LDH with beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. There is some amazing snorkelling right off the beach. Great visibility and the water was very warm in mid-Feb. I was surprised how tropical the fish were, and we even swam with a turtle and a Galapagos shark.

Sweeping grass lawn frames this secluded beach on a shallow lagoon facing the Tasman. Protecte from the open sea by a reef and inhabited by millions of tame fish hoping to be fed. This is a delightful experience not to be missed. Neds Beach has been rated in the past as Australia's cleanest beach!

Ned's Beach is the quintessential LHI experience. We visited it on our first day on the island and came back at least every second day (it helped that we were staying nearby). Feeding the fish is great fun and the swimming and snorkeling here are first rate (though we were disappointed we didn't see turtles here). There was even a surf break for a couple of days. There are toilets, BBQ facilities, and large grassy areas for lazing, playing, and picnicking. I thought an added (and overlooked) bonus here was the profuse local birdlife - sooty terns, welcome swallows swooping overhead and a group of ruddy turnstones bustling along the shoreline.

Fabulous snorkelling off the beach. The reefs were really healthy and the marine life amazing. Small sharks, starfish and all the beautiful coloured tropical fish you’d hope to see! Several BBQs overlooking the beach, with many of the guesthouses offering bbq or picnic packs delivered to the site. It is a short walk or cycle up & over the hill from the centre of “town”.

This has to be one of the best beaches in the world! It is surrounded by nature, other than a beach hut to get shade there are no signs of civilisation. It is famous for it's fish feeding and they were there everytime. Crystal clear water, great snorkelling, stunning location, a must when visiting Lord Howe!

Ride, walk or get to this beautiful beach anyway you can to experience what is beneath the water. This whole area is another picturesque and amazing sight to see but the fish are up-close-and-personal.
The tide & current here was a bit of a challenge on the couple of days we were here, but you don't have to go deep to experience the fish. Goggles are all you need.
