About
Lord Howe Island is less than 2 hours flight from Sydney or Brisbane and surrounded by a Marine Park. Over 500 species of fish and 90 species of hard and soft corals, Lord Howe provides and underwater experience for divers of all experience levels. Dive Lord Howe operates dives everyday (weather permitting) and have the only dive boat on the island that is surveyed to dive Balls Pyramid. Dive sites around the island vary from 5 – 30 metres with an array of both tropical and temperate water species. Most dives are suitable for open water certified divers. Balls Pyramid is very weather dependent and an advanced open water certification is required for this dive. Dive Lord Howe operates from September to May and bookings are essential. Great diving packages can be booked online.

Dive Lord Howe is an immaculately well run, friendly and helpful dive center that goes out of it’s way to maximize the diver’s enjoyment. My husband and I have logged over 400 dives each both in Australia and internationally and we have never encountered a superior dive operation. Every single person working on the boat or in the office was outstanding. We bought a 10 dive package and subsequently changed our minds about the days and times we wanted to dive with no issue whatsoever. The weather limited our access to dive sites on the west of the island but we were taken to various sites sheltered from the current and swell with care taken so we didn’t return to sites previously dived. The dive boat is comfortable and fast, and safety was always paramount.

I have just found time to sit down and write a review of a fantastic trip to Lord Howe Island that we did we did earlier this month. The above water scenery on LHI was awesome but below the water was even better. We did nine dives and a Galapagos shark snorkel in five days through ProDive Lord Howe Island..
I cannot say enough good things about Pro Dive LHI,the staff were great, friendly , helpful, knowledgeable a real pleasure to be around. My partner and I used the shops wet suits and BCDs. Others in the group used the shops regulators as well and everyone seemed very happy with the quality of the equipment.
Safety was paramount with dive sites selected on the day based on the weather, we were lucky enough to get out to Balls Pyramid one day when we had a good weather window. The dives there were worth the trip by themselves, the visibility was the best I have seen outside some places in the tropics
There was a comprehensive briefing for each dive and all dives were guided.
The main boat was a 9M Woody Marine plate aluminium boat with a foam collar and twin 250 Suzuki outboards with twin ladders at the stern and the boat gave a very comfortable ride.
By the end of trip we were very happy we had been to LHI and LHI is on our list of places to go back to so we can explore other dive sites with Pro Dive

Hired snorkelling gear for a family of 4 as well as 2SUPs for 2 hours. Quality equipment and great customer service.
We used the gear without any trouble for the whole stay. Went on 2 cruises and kept the hired gear as it worked so well.

Dive Lord Howe is, without a doubt, the best dive shop in the world! The diving at Lord Howe Island is already spectacular, but what truly sets this place apart is Aaron and his phenomenal team. Their professionalism, passion, and genuine care for every diver and snorkeler make every experience unforgettable.
We had the privilege of diving with them, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The knowledge and enthusiasm Aaron brings to every dive elevate it beyond just an underwater adventure—it becomes a journey into the magic of the ocean.
But the absolute highlight was the shark snorkeling experience with our daughters (ages 4 and 7). Aaron was incredible with them—so patient, reassuring, and enthusiastic. Thanks to him, they had the time of their lives, feeling safe and inspired by the wonders of the ocean.
If you're visiting Lord Howe Island, diving or snorkeling with Dive Lord Howe is an absolute must. We cannot recommend them highly enough! Thank you, Aaron and team, for an experience we will treasure forever! 🐠🐟💙

I couldn't reccomend this place more highly. Aaron's knowledge of the island, the reefs, the ocean, the gear and marine life is incredible. The whole crew are legends and super competent - felt extremely safe diving and got two amazing dives in with beautiful soft corals, swim throughs, a giant cod, sharks and heaps of fish. Its a stunning place to dive and I wish I'd had time to do more. Thanks heaps - highlight of the trip.

We had a Six-Day Dive Package with Pro Dive LHI, 2 dives per day on the 8th, 10th, 12th. This being my first fun dive after obtaining Open Water was a great learning experience. The reef was very lively and there were fascinating swim throughs. Water temperature around this time of the year is still a little cold (for me), but the warm hot chocolate and solar shower on board helped.
The crew was disciplined with safety procedures, providing dive plan and refresher of hand signals before we went in. Special shoutout to the crew for looking after us:
1) Aaron was an amazing boat skipper. He was attentive, calm, experienced - carefully ensuring that all was sailing smooth. 2) Benny and Liv were great guides, easy to communicate with and I felt safe to dive with them. 3) Dave, Jim, and Michelle were super friendly, helpful, and professional.
Biggest regret: Not taking any pictures in dive gear / with Pro Dive... :')
Would love to try Galapagos Sharks and Balls Pyramid next time!

Spectacular as always!
We completed multiple dives over our two week holiday on Lord Howe. We did two private charters with our children and partners, joined regular boat dives, dived Balls Pyramid and encouraged our mid 50s friends to complete their Padi Openwater.
All our experiences were memorable and different. My girlfriend has described it as ‘life-changing’ and I overheard a 13 year old boy describe his Discover Scuba experience as his, ‘best day ever!’.
Aaron works hard to make the dives varied and suited to the group and his enthusiasm is infectious.
This is a very together well run business executed with care and passion and I think my final dive for the season on Saturday morning will rank in my absolute best dives ever, combining the picturesque feature of the Eye of Roach with an exciting and mesmerising high speed drift dive across the fabulous corals of the Admiralty Islands. Wow!
Thank you to Aaron, Lisa, Dave, Michelle, Jim and everyone who made it so much fun for us!

Aaron and the team took our family of 5 out to snorkel with the sharks this week. It was one of the best experiences we have had. Starting with some detailed information about the sharks, the research being undertaken and the fact we were all part of that citizen science, we all felt incredibly lucky to be spending time with the amazing Galapagos sharks. From a slightly nervous snorkeler to the confident teenagers we also all felt so safe and at ease in the water. The set up is ideal for everyone. With our kids saying it was one the best things they have ever experienced, we can’t recommend it enough. The experience and knowledge of the pro dive team was amazing. Thanks

It was not my first experience diving with this dive centre. I continue coming back to enjoy the underwater wonders of Lord Howe Island dive sites (many to chose from depending on weather conditions, but the best ones are 5 Star reef, Sugarloaf, Malabar). Weather permitting, the dives at Ball's pyramid should not be missed as clarity of the water and abundance of sea life including Galapagos sharks and rare Ballina Angelfish are amazing. It is about 1 hr by boat to Ball's pyramid, which could be a rough trip, and I always think why to go as I've been there a few times. However, as soon as I am underwater there, I know that this is why I returned. Under the leadership of Aaron, the Dive Lord Howe centre operates well with excellent equipment, training and caring about the divers and their experiences.

Aaron and his team were professional, fun and always put safety first on the two snorkel trips I did with Dive Lord Howe. The Snorkel with the Sharks experience was fantastic and I was lucky enough to join a Balls Pyramid Dive trip, too. Aaron personally took me and a small group for a snorkel between the two dives of the day. The fish life and shark encounters were something I’ll never forget. Thanks for a memorable experience!

I'm going to dive in Australia from 8 to 14 of January 2019.
I'll go with two daughters. Me and one of them have the advance water. The other will do the open water.
I have 56 years old, i'm a smoker and i don't like to dive with currents.
How is the weather and water temperature in January?
If it's ok can you sugest a program with flight from Sydney, acomodation and dive courses/program from 8 until 14 of January?

Hi Rita,
Thank you very much for contacting us. We have many dive sites to chose from and the weather in January is usually warm and stable with good visibility. We have many options and usually avoid currents or having to work too hard so this would suit your family's needs well. Average temperature is around 24 degrees celsius and visibility is around 30 - 40M.
Unfortunately we are not a licensed travel agent so we can not handle the flights and accommodation. If you would like someone to arrange this for you, Pro Dive Travel in Sydney Australia can do so, and you can book the dives directly with us by visiting our website.
