Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice beach, get kingfishers close to here, there are some that sit on the fence of the airport, the walk up to Transit Hill starts here.

The birds were abundant. The day was very blustery as Blinks is open to the east and open Ocean, good views back over the air strip

LHI has excellent natural beaches. Blinky beach is generally wind battered and open, but is great to view from the east walking trails either side.

Blinky is well known as a surfing beach so its not a must-see if you'd prefer a gentler surf. The view from the trail to the beach offers a lovely lookout over the ocean, and is a lovely place to spend a morning watching the waves roll in at high tide.

Had some excellent but safe waves during our swim at Blinkys. Not patrolled so need to know your capabilities and watch out for rips. No facilities but still a good place for beach picnic. Sun rise good from here.

The surf break was excellent on the day we stepped onto this pristine beach. We swam and enjoyed the time there amidst the Sooty Tern rookery.

Just near the airport it is easy to get to on bike.

This beach seemed to be the main beach for the surfers and body boarders. Plenty of birds laying eggs on the sand and a few chicks already hatching. This beach is close to the airport and a nice bike ride from town.

Nice enough beach but better as a surf spot. With a decent swell it the shore dumps make it pretty undesirable as a swimming beach. Many other prettier and better spots on LHI.

Blinky beach is perfect for surfers & strong swimmers. It’s located on the eastern side of the island almost at the end of the airport runway. Nestled between Blinky Point and Mutton Bird Lookout.

The pristine unspoilt sandy white beach was basically empty the day we visited except for a few surfers. We enjoyed body surfing at the northern end of the beach which is evidently the safest place to swim.

Bird watching is also very interesting with heaps of Flesh-footed shearwaters and Sooty Terns nesting in the sand dunes. It’s approximately a 10min cycle ride from town.

This is predominantly a surf beach, but is stunning to visit with the crashing waves, long beach and the contrast with white waves, shallow water and deep blue ocean.
