- ingeborgcorKrakow, Poland5 contributionsLife and all its twists and turnsAmazing! Robert and Therese are passionate about collecting and preserving things of the past, sharing stories of the past, history and so much more. They do this so we may learn and know that what has gone before and what is happening now has not changed much, we just do it in a different way - weather patterns, farming, life - sometimes better, sometimes not! Thank you for a comprehensive tour of your collection. Thank you for beautiful, fresh baked scones for morning tea. Thank you for sharing some of your history with us. We gained a huge amount of respect for life on the farm! Thank you for all you do to help others.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 August 2023

We were greeted with enthusiasm and smiles - Robert (nickname COD) and Therese. You were made to feel at home. Cod took us to three sheds that had everything relating to country living of the past. Cod and his family are now 6 generations. He talked of the country life of the ups and downs. Morning tea was delicious wonderful scones cooked in a wood stove with jam and cream - wonderful delights. - Louise WLaunceston, Australia13 contributionsPowerhouse of information and memorabiliaRobert and Therese were gracious hosts. Amazing talk on the area and difficulties that farmers face with the lack of rain and bungling management of the river system. Truly amazing collection of machines and equipment that astounded everyone. Beautiful morning "smoko" with homemade, light as a feather, scones served up on lovely china plus tea in tea pots with cute cozies. Accolades also for working hard for the mental health of farmers. Amazing place and people. Thank you.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 September 2023

We were recommended this museum by a friend, and we were so glad we went. Robert Turnbull and his wife are warm and honest hosts. Every fibre in their body loves the farm and that shows. Book in advance and they'll take the time (about 2-3 hours) to tell you everything about the 4 generations that have worked this farm, including years of floods and devastating droughts. Robert and his wife are active in charities that support farmers financially and mentally during these dry years.
You need the guided the tour through the museum to understand what you're looking at, and many of the machines and artefacts come to live with Robert's stories.
The morning tea with home-made scones were a highlight thanks the lovely wife. During morning tea, Robert brought some of us to tears when he recited some of his poems - another highlight.
And let's not forget the lesson in water divining - that was a highlight too!

So happy that Sue at the information centre recommended this tour to us or we would have missed it. They're currently running tours once a day at 1pm during dry weather (so most of the time!). Allow at least 3 hours for the experience. My partner and I were there for about 3 and a half. Robert has some fantastic stories and great knowledge of the area and farming. Their collection has something for everyone and is quite unique. During the tour you'll also have a break for some homemade scones made by Therese that are delicious! They're both lovely and up for a chat. I highly recommend visiting their farm to anyone passing through lightning ridge.
