Just Rustic
About
Nestled on our family station Bando, Just Rustic is an eclectic collections of artefacts, indigenous artworks and weapons, early settler tools and implements, memorabilia and a large collections of working order engines dating back to the early 1900's. The collection also provides a rich and detailed history of the Lightning Ridge area and surrounds told by a local farming family.

We loved this experience. From the moment you meet Robert and Thérèse you felt like you have known them all your life. We laughed, we learnt, we had the best scones and I cried. The collection in the museum is one of the best, the family history and the life time of experiences (the good and the bad) make for great listening. I don’t imagine each tour would be the same so looks like we will have to go again. Do yourself a favour you won’t regret it.

Fantastic experience. We had a great time listening to Rob explain the history of the area and the stories behind the artefacts and equipment he has collected, hundreds of interesting items. Even taught us all how to water divine. Rob's wife prepared a beautiful morning tea, scones cooked in a wood fired fuel stove ( Beautiful). Don't miss this experience!

This is a truly unique experience to hear directly from a 4th generation farmer sharing experiences and stories of life in the Australian bush. Robert and Therese hosted us on their property which includes an amazing and extensive museum of rural and other artefacts collected over a lifetime by Robert.

As well as being an engaging story teller with a huge depth of knowledge, Robert is also a talented bush poet that will have you crying one moment and laughing the next. The "smoko" of scones and tea/coffee is a great opportunity to listen to Robert recite and also tell a couple of well timed yarns.

We enjoyed the entire experience.

This is a must so while visiting Lightning Ridge. 4th generation farmer speaks of his family experiences in a true Australian way. The museum they have on show is mind blowing and a true credit to the family. Tea/ coffee and fresh baked scones, jam & cream top off a great afternoon. Highly recommended.

Spent a great afternoon at Bando Station visiting Just Rustic. Very sad but interesting to hear how hard things have been for these farmers, who maintain a positive attitude and have done a lot to support others and charities. Got to try our hand at water divining, had a delicious afternoon tea of Therese’s homemade scones and Milo (tea also available). Robert has an amazing collection of historic engines, tools and just about everything you can think of and many are still working. He has done a great job creating his museum while also maintaining his farm. Only a short drive from Lightning Ridge - highly recommended.

What a fascinating station museum & artifacts& machinery . Very interesting & Robbie was very informative about all of his collected pieces over the years. We have been to lightning ridge a few times & this is a must see place. Only 30 minutes from lightning ridge , but you will need quiet a few hours as Robbie talks & explains about the pieces in his collection. Well done & Thankyou.

We visited Just Rustic this morning, wow!!! Such amazing history. Huge collection that would amaze anybody, congratulations to Rob & Trace, where Robs knowledge and poetry was exceptional and Trace’s hospitality with the fresh home made scones. Great initiative to assist themselves during this very long drought which continues in this area. Highly recommend this to everybody, young and old.

What a fabulous station Rob and Thérèse have at Just Rustic. We were so privileged to be educated on how farmers work in the outback and shown Robs collection of old restored machinery of Australians past. Thérèse’s scones and tea and Rob’s poetry were enjoyed before being shown their incredible museum. Wow what a surprise. This is a must see and enjoyed experience in Lightning Ridge. Thanks Just Rustic

Number 1 Tourist Attraction - Just Rustic.
We were greeted with enthusiasm and smiles - Robert (nickname COD) and Therese. You were made to feel at home. Cod took us to three sheds that had everything relating to country living of the past. Cod and his family are now 6 generations.
He talked of the country life of the ups and downs. Morning tea was delicious wonderful scones cooked in a wood stove with jam and cream - wonderful delights. The museum had sensational artifacts from war years, aboriginal history , lots more of pioneer life in the outback. This is a must to see.
