Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My tandem flight was so much fun! The take off from North Brother is nerve wracking but so exciting. We got up to the clouds and even did some 360 spin moves - absolutely awesome! A highlight of my holiday. Thanks so much Dave!

What an amazing experience! I was quite nervous before we flew but Dave was so calm and reassuring. The views were stunning and the actual flight itself was smooth and relaxing. Highly recommended :)

Extremely unsatisfied with this company. I would highly recommend avoiding. Purchased a gift voucher for a tandem jump with them and have been trying to use it for over a year now. I understand that there needs to be specific weather conditions and that it hasn't been idea of late but it's been over a year and there have been absolutely no times that this company has said that we could do the jump (purchase the more expensive mountain jump). Now I'm pregnant and can't use the voucher and the owner refuses to reimburse, even though I've done everything I can to use this over the past year prior to my situation changing.
Experience has been extremely frustrating and Dave's customer service has been appalling. He takes your money then hopes you forget about the voucher.
If using this company, definitely don't pre-purchase, it's a rip off. Now at the point where I have to progress with the ACCC.

We’re very sorry to hear that you felt your experience with us was poor. We understand your frustration in trying organise your tandem flight, and are glad that this was resolved without ACCC involvement. To provide context for potential customers reading this review, there were various reasons for delays in mountain tandem flights in 2022/23: 1) The North Brother site was closed for 7-8 months, 2) Some customers only wanted to fly from North Brother mountain and not from Middle Brother mountain (limiting opportunities for flying), and 3) Weather conditions were genuinely unsuitable for flying the mountain sites for a prolonged period. Tandem flights are weather dependent and we only fly when the weather is 100% suitable. We put our customers’ safety first and will not put anyone at risk by flying in unsuitable weather conditions. We kindly ask for patience and understanding if bookings are delayed or changed due to unsuitable weather conditions - the weather is out of our control and safety is our top priority. Our mountain tandem vouchers were for flights from either North Brother mountain or Middle Brother mountain, each requiring a specific (different) wind direction. Limiting the flight location to North Brother reduces opportunities for flying. For reference, opportunities for flying at mountain sites can be lower than flying from coastal sites. This is because there are only two mountain sites requiring very specific conditions whereas there are many coastal sites accommodating a wider range of wind directions. It is for this reason that we now don’t specify location on our tandem flight vouchers. As a small business we unfortunately don’t have the capacity to provide regular weather forecasts or updates to all of our tandem customers to let them know when to book their tandem flight, as weather conditions can change daily. Instead, we ask our customers to let us know when they would like to book in, and we are then in communication with them in the days running up to the scheduled flight to advise about time and location (or an alternative date) based on the weather. We are happy to extend a tandem voucher’s expiry date in certain situations and will do our utmost to organise flights to our customers preferences, as long as this doesn’t put their safety at risk. I hope this is helpful context and information for those considering booking a tandem flight with us in future. Thanks, Dave @ High Adventure

These guys are passionate about flying with safety a priority. Great instruction and ability to make you feel comfortable even when you are out of your comfort zone. Paragliding is an amazing experience so give it a go with Aiden and Dave.

From the first communication until we left Laurieton myself and the entire class was treated like family. I progressed from a google warrior into a novice pilot, knowing that I can pilot a B-rated paraglider or fly a paramotor from the training hill to the lighthouse and back with confidence. Dave, Aiden, Andy and crew gave world-class instruction and mentored us into knowledgable and intelligent pilots capable of making our own decisions on area familiarization, gear and flying conditions. The best part is knowing I can come back to High Adventure at any time and get the same treatment and instruction for free because we are part of the Wainwright family. I couldn’t be happier with my choice to become a paragliding and paramotor pilot, and I couldn’t be more thankful than choosing High Adventure to help get me there.

Please do not engage with this establishment. They will rip you off.
Dave is incompetent operator who is just there to take your money away.
2 day free course is just big scam to hook you in. If you want real training and paragliding license go to place where you live and you will be much better off.

My course to learn to paraglide was total disaster. Not only they get as many as possible number of students but also they don't care if you are in need of more extra attention to learn this amazing sport. David is there for the money not for you. Total rip off. Dot learn there as you will have very big chance to not get your license.

A free 2 day introductory course to paragliding including all transport and equipment seemed too good to be true. But this is one of the few times when it really was true. The catch is that I'm now hooked and am will be doing the full course.

The school is well established in the town of Laurieton, within walking distance to shops and several good cafes. There is on-site accommodation which looked fine although we didn't need it.

We had two very experienced instructors (Dave and Diogo) who did a great job explaining the basics without getting too technical. We were out on the field by mid-morning learning how to run with the glider. The school has several training locations around the area, so there is somewhere to go regardless of the wind direction. Having said that, this is a sport that is totally dependant on the wind. To much wind or bad weather and you can't fly.

The culmination of the course was a tandem fly off North Brother mountain, during which I was able to control the glider, although luckily for both of us the instructor did the landing!

You need to be reasonably fit. The course includes running down a gently sloping field as fast as you can to get enough speed to get airborne and gliding down to the landing. Then you walk back the slope carrying the glider (about 10kg). I'm over 60 and I managed it, although my legs were a bit sore the next day. More wind would have made it much easier.

Your out in the sun all day so sunscreen, a good hat and light loose clothes are a must. Good shoes sturdy enough to walk over rough paths and easy to run in are also needed. A water bottle and some snacks to replenish the energy and your ready to go.

You need to do some paperwork to satisfy the legal and insurance requirements, and some of it needs to be done online through the HGFA website which can be a real pain to deal with, so get that done a day or so ahead of time.

This course would have been good value at $100 or more. As a free course, with the only cost being $28 for the HGFA insurance, it's absolute brilliant.
