We all enjoyed the museum.
Lots of information about the area and we were lucky to car h the film and war exhibition which was very interesting. The boardwalk was nice and the tide was low so we got to see some crabs emerge.
Great for kids little and teens.

Two options. The first is free, which is the outside area, which has a boardwalk through the mangroves, a fishpond where you can feed fish and various boats to look at. Walk through the mangroves was worth the visit even if we hadn’t done anything else. The second option includes the first but costs an entrance fee, namely visiting the museum. Well worth doing. Large exhibits such as the Lady Denman ferry but lots of well presented material. A very substantial regional museum.
Good gift shop with local indigenous crafts. We spent 2 hours and could have taken longer.

We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around this museum. It has a fantastic display about the history of the Jervis Bay Area, including its indigenous peoples, it’s Naval and Maritime history, it’s relationship with the Commonwealth and it’s boat building heritage. It houses a full sized retired Sydney ferry - the Lady Denman - that was built in the local area. It was great to be able to look at the whole ferry and read about its history. The museum is staffed by volunteers and currently has a reasonable entry price of $10 per adult.

The website promised an inclusive experience with a guided tour. This appears to only occur if you are a “nuclear” family. As a single parent visiting with a fellow single parent we could not have been more excluded from this place. I’d say it’s not worth the cost of entry.

An unexpected delight. The exhibits are well displayed, the stories of shipwrecks etc fascinating. The mangrove boardwalk is really excellent - I congratulate the people who built it.
An added bonus was a special exhibition of dresses, props, etc from The Dressmaker movie. It included a 30 minute behind-the-scenes documentary. Loved it.

The small museum is excellent with very interesting exhibits very well presented and maintained and certainly lacking the mustiness which is often found in small country museums. The display of the Lady Denman ferry was particularly interesting, although it was disappointing that access to the upper deck and the seat I had occupied regularly for many years while commuting on the ferry in Sydney was regrettably not available. The museum as staffed by friendly volunteers and a visit is recommended.

This is a great introduction to the Jervis Bay Area. Aboriginal history is integrated throughout the museum. Make sure to visit the Lady Denham - it’s of the few remaining original Sydney Harbour ferries. It’s beautifully preserved. Really worthwhile.

We were pleasantly surprised with the depth of information in this museum. We went to see the Lady Denman ferry, which was very well presented. However, there is so much more. There is an abundance of fascinating information on the history of the Jervis Bay area, of the people, both indigenous and European, of navigation and some lovely related art work. We coud have spent longer there browsing all the collections.

This is a small museum with lots of surprises. Many pieces have been collected from different periods of naval and maritime history. We visited to view the bell from the Sabroan on which my grandfather was interned when it was a "reform school" for wayward lads. Nice to see a link to some family history. The ferry restoration is also worth a tour.
