Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a small museum with lots of surprises. Many pieces have been collected from different periods of naval and maritime history. We visited to view the bell from the Sabroan on which my grandfather was interned when it was a "reform school" for wayward lads. Nice to see a link to some family history. The ferry restoration is also worth a tour.

Great museum focusing on the region and it's varied history.
Take a bit of time to wander around as they have collected a good variety of historic and current displays that work together well.

The website promised an inclusive experience with a guided tour. This appears to only occur if you are a “nuclear” family. As a single parent visiting with a fellow single parent we could not have been more excluded from this place. I’d say it’s not worth the cost of entry.

An unexpected delight. The exhibits are well displayed, the stories of shipwrecks etc fascinating. The mangrove boardwalk is really excellent - I congratulate the people who built it.
An added bonus was a special exhibition of dresses, props, etc from The Dressmaker movie. It included a 30 minute behind-the-scenes documentary. Loved it.

A drawcard for us was the Lady Denman ferry, pressing nostalgia buttons for both of us. An extra bonus was the availablity of videos documenting various aspects of her life. The main exhibition was well presented with easily read information. Added interest was the board walk through the mangroves. Some good photographic opportunities presented themselves on the walk.

Full credit to those who created the boardwalk - it is brilliant. Well built, informative and easy to navigate. You get a great insight into the importance of mangroves within the ecosystem. It deserves to be listed as an activity in its own right. It was low tide when we visited, will return at other times of the day to get a different perspective. Highly recommended particularly if you have kids.
