Don't throw sticks...

Henty is a five-hour drive from Sydney...or if you want to look at it another way it's halfway between Albury and Wagga Wagga. It depends on which direction you are coming from how relevant that information is. The population of this town is less than 1000... but it's just a lovely town to visit with a great feel. It's Feng shui is just right. :) In 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War this park was established. A focal point of the park is a rectangular black granite and local stone monument, behind which stands a single white flagpole. To the right-hand side is a bushrock memorial with a plaque bearing a dedication to two local soldiers. Also located in the park is an artillery gun, in honour of the centenary of the town in 1986. But ... asides from the military memorials, two entrances into the park have railway signals leading into them. The park has lovely established trees and picnic tables. There was a children's party on when I arrived and I watched the young ones extricate a football from a tree near my picnic table... they were quite industrious throwing branch after branch into the tree to dislodge it, with a mother standing there saying, "Don't throw the sticks towards the table with the lady sitting at it". *laughs* I was the lady! I just sat down to eat lunch. The young ones were very entertaining. The area will have everything you need- a swimming pool, water fountain, rotunda, established trees, points of interest, toilets and a playground.
