Both me and my partner (mid 20s) from the UK booked this trip when we first heard about Nimbin from our hostel rep in Melbourne, saying that is was a very small hippy town and the cannabis central of Australia, why would you not want to go?
Our guide Zac was awesome, an eccentricly dressed guy (which was matched by his bus) funny, uplifting and knowledagble, there's nothing he didn't know about Nimbin and its surrounding areas, and he also played some good music!
The tour visits other landmarks and places of interests along the way, which is quite cool and your guide will tell you all about them.
Food - THE BURGERS ARE AMAZING! 11/10.
The reason I haven't given 5 stars is firstly, it's was raining, which isn't the tours fault, but the trek to the waterfall was very muddy and we only went to the top of the waterfall. Our guide also told us about some famous rocks, which we got to take photos of, but because of the weather, you could barely see them.
Secondly, our bus broke down twice haha, we found it quite funny (others didn't) Zac was very uplifting and funny about it and we were all laughing, but the bus was very jolting. If you went to a restaurant and the oven kept breaking, you wouldn't rate it 5 stars.
Overall, we really enjoyed the whole experience, we would recommend it to everyone, whether you're going to get high, going for the hipsters, the curiosity or anything, it's certainly worth it.

If you are staying in Byron Bay this day trip is a MUST DO!! You stop at the beautiful Killen Falls, visit a traditional Aussie pub and then make it to Nimbin where you can wander through the shops and take in the sights. Princess Fiona was hilarious, kind and very knowledgeable about the area. The lunch prepared was delicious and I absolutely can not recommend this trip enough!! Tip: if it’s a hot day, bring your swimmers for a dip in Nimbins free pool!

Zac was a funny, entertaining guy, who had a wealth of experience of many countries, which seemed to make everyone feel at home. It was a great ride up to nimbin and he kept us informed with his local knowledge. Nimbin is a wonderfully colourful town and had a chat with a couple of the friendly locals. Disappointed the museum was no longer there. Value for money for a pleasant day out

Princess Fiona was so nice and that was the best part about this trip. The bus that arrived for us was a plain white bus, no colourful, unique bus like advertised. They said this was in the garage which is fair. Then our bus broke down with a flat tyre so they had to send another bus for us, which did come quickly. Then we headed off to Killin falls for a 10 minute stop where we only seen the top of the waterfall and were told not to go down to the bottom view point. We then went to an old pub, where we only had 15 minutes, no time to order food or even a drink due to queues. Then we headed to Nimbin for just an hour and a half. Which it is a small place so that wasn’t bad amount of time but we felt we could have chilled out and spent more time in the little shops and cafes. Then the 1.5 hour drive home. And that was the full day 10am-4:30pm. We had a car and we really regretted not driving ourselves but we signed up for this as it looked something different and fun. We did not find this good value for money or the fun trip we expected.

Booked a week in advance for the trip, received a reminder a day before the trip but never got there as they forgotten about our booking.
We arrived at the bustop 10 mins earlier than instructed, waited for 20mins and I decided to ring them. And to my surprise they said I was missed out in the booking system. When they rang 5 mins later again, they insisted that I was not at the bus stop on time.
What a big lie to cover themselves up. We were there earlier and throughout that 20mins of waiting we DID NOT see a single van that looks like The Happy Coach.
They couldn’t turn the coach around for us and just simply cancelled our trip and refunded us. Definitely would not recommend.

I booked this tour on the wrong date and have been trying to get in contact with the company for 2 weeks now and never got contacted back. I managed to have someone on the phone but they were not helpful at all, told me to sent an email, which I did (about 2 or 3) and never got a response. The customer service is really not acceptable considering that I still paid the full price and never got a refund.
Would definitely not recommend!

I booked this tour in January and had been looking forward to it for 6 months. I was horribly disappointed.
To start the day, my host pulled up at my pickup spot. I got into the van, said hi to the couple already in the van and was told there was another person we were waiting on. The host then proceeded without any warning to leave the van running double parked, so he could step outside and have a cigarette while we waited on the second person. I know Byron is a chilled out place but I found that highly unprofessional.
Our first stop was Killen Falls, a beautiful waterfall area. Happy Coach made no mention that to get there, we’d have to scale down rocks, often rocks that were loose or mossy/slippery. I fell over and am now sporting a giant bruise on my leg as I had worn sandals and couldn’t scale the rocks with ease. The host rushed ahead and did not keep the group together at all. I lost sight of him countless times and found it hard to keep up. If it wasn’t for a very sweet Scottish man also on the tour who could see I was struggling to navigate the rocks in my inappropriate shoes making sure I was ok, I’d still be trying to get out of there. We finally reached the lovely spot and the host again proceeded to light up a cigarette in this beautiful area. It was gross. I only hope he took his cigarette butt with him and didn’t litter this gorgeous spot.
After having to make the rock hike a second time on my way back to the van, we were on our way to Nimbin.
When we arrived in Nimbin we were dumped off at a bus stop and told we have 2 hours to explore. Perhaps I misread this part of my booking but I thought we would be having an actual tour as a group, with commentary from the host.
Nimbin is quite possibly one of the worst places I’ve ever been. Everywhere you go people are approaching you asking you if you want to buy drugs. I have no idea why anyone would pay to see that place, or think a tour to there is appropriate. Nimbin is painted as this lovely hippy town but it is just a sad, vagrant cesspool. I spent the 2 hours sitting in a corner of one of the pubs there, eating a bowl of hot chips and waiting for the 2 hours to tick away.
When we got back to Byron I almost fell out of the van trying to get out of there as quickly as I could. If any of this sounds like your scene go for it, but it definitely wasn’t for me.

Unfortunately the advertised beautifully painted, colourful Happy Coach was non existent. We were collected in a normal white bus and were all very disappointed to hear the usual bus was in a garage having some work done. About 30 mins into the journey, our bus had a flat tyre on the motorway. We then had to wait another 30 mins for a replacement coach to continue our journey. We popped to the waterfall very quickly with not enough time to even swim in it and enjoy it properly. Then onto Nimbin for only 1 and a half hours where we had some lunch and then left again for the drive back to the hostels.
We were unlucky that the weather wasn’t great and this is obviously no fault of anyone’s, but the overall experience just wasn’t as we had expected. Nimbin seemed more like a London backstreet on a Saturday night rather than a little hippie town.

I had booked this tour over a week ago,, I had enquires that were only answered a couple of days ago since the original date of booking,, our original date was canceled due to poor weather. So we planned again to get up early be at the bus stop but we are still standing here 1 hr after the due pick up time.. they don’t answer the phone ,, since booking this tour I have phoned at least 4 times although today has been at least 10 no one is answering grrrrr .. I don’t think it’s going to be easy getting a refund at this rate,, I don’t advise wasting your time with this lot,,, very disappointed

If I could give 0 stars I would, avoid this company at all costs. We booked the tour in October for the bus ride on January 28th. Got to the bus and we’re refused on because our names were not on the list, turns out the man just missed the email and never even booked us on, even though we rang to confirm the day before. Bus driver and man from head office were extremely rude, we were been very understanding but we’re told it’s not his problem and he’s going to keep driving and leave us there. The man from head office laughed over the phone when we asked for either a refund or a taxi to get there. Biggest waste of $99 ever, and to be told they will ‘consider’ a refund. Rent a car to get there so much cheaper and don’t have to deal with the embarrassment of been turned away in front of the whole bus and the attitude from the bus drivers and the man from head office. Avoid this company

Just wondering if there are likely to be any older people on the trip i.e late 50's or is it more of a trip for younger travellers?

I went a few days ago. I'm just 60 and by far the oldest there...other than our driver, Zac. You're never too old. Thoroughly enjoyed it

Hi. We have a booking with you on the 6th Dec and were wondering if you pick up from the centre of byron bay?
Our confirmation says Suffolk Bus Stop but that is a bit out of town and we will be arriving in Byron centre only an hour before the tour departs.
Cheers
