Soul Surf School is a Surfing Australia approved surf school based in Byron Bay, NSW Australia. We are centrally located in our beach hire/surf shop on Byron Bays' famous main beach ( 14 Bay St ) All of our surf coaches hold current Surfing Australia coaching accreditation, and all of our management team have a minimum of 10 years surfing experience. Soul Surf School offers programs to complete beginners, intermediate and advanced surfers of any age (minimum 5years). We are the only Byron Bay surf school to have surf school permits to teach personal private lessons & group lessons in both Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Ballina & Tweed Heads shires . We are dedicated to finding the best, fun and safest waves daily and we have over 15 different locations at our fingertips, ready for the ultimate learn to surf experience.

Instructors were super great and supportive! Managed to get up on the board and stand on my first day riding white waves. By my second lesson I was on green waves. Was super fun. Music on the bus was really good too!

Exceptional experience at Soul Surf School! The instructors are not only passionate about surfing but also incredibly skilled at imparting their knowledge. Staff was super friendly and the personalized attention and constructive feedback ensure rapid improvement. Can highly recommend to anyone who wants to try surfing first time or improve their surfing skills further.

Brilliant fun! I had never surfed before but the guys teaching you were brilliant and very informative! They was also a great laugh! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to complete their first surfing lesson!

This surf school came recommended from a number of surfers down the East Coast for teaching the right technique from the off. Felt really chilled even with lots of info and learning. Big group but were split between three guides so able to get feedback and tips throughout (I was with Jonny who was great, as were the other two guides) Two hours in the water (which is more than enough). Also great touch having Steph take photos throughout (additional cost but worth it!)

Myself and 5 friends booked in for the half day surf lesson. Ben was our instructor for the lesson. He was extremely knowledgable and enthusiastic while keeping things fun. As a group of total beginners he was patient and kind to everyone and had no problem tailoring his teaching to each person in our group advancing at different stages. We had an amazing time from start to end. The entire process was smooth and easy. Would highly recommend anyone to go with soul surf 100%.

The 2 surf lessons I took were really worth it.
First of all, the pick up service Soul Surfing offers is amazing. The instructors picked me up at my hostel (Wake Up!) in their van so I safed the 25 minutes it would have taken to go to their surf shop in town. After the pick up they took us to beaches down south (Two different beaches each day, depending on the quality of he waves. 20-30 minutes drive maybe). The beaches were both beautiful, had good surfing conditions and we had the opportunity to shower there after the lesson as well. We were in total around 20 people and they split us into two groups of 10 people, depending on if we have surfed before or not. In the beginning the instructors showed us on dry land the basics, how to get on our board and what the steps are to stand up. They also gave some safery advises. After that we got into water. The instructors were very helpful, giving us a push into the wave we would take and constantly giving us individual feedback! That was more than I expected. Also, all instructors on both days (in total I met 5) were super friendly and had a very positive, supporting energy. You really feel that they want you to learn it and to have fun while doing it. That was amazing. I am very happy I took the course and if I should return to Byron I would definitely surf with them again, improving my skills.
