I had the opportunity to study Thai massage for two months with Valentia. She turned out to be a super teacher, as well as a fantastic person, available to meet my needs, courteous and supportive. Learning from her you can see her dedication to this discipline. The material studied was more than exhaustive and enriching.
I felt guided, and always at ease in asking to repeat positions or maneuvers that were not clear to me.
I recommend it to all those who, by profession or passion, want to know a little more about ways to support the body's well-being and maintain a high level of self-healing capacity.

Valentina and this course are so wonderful. I highly recommend it for dedicated students at all levels of bodywork experience. I came alone from overseas with a longstanding yoga practice but no bodywork training. I signed up for this course to learn meridians and an introduction to massage, get tons of practice on bodies, and enjoy Byron Bay. All of these things happened 100% and far beyond my expectations :) Valentina's teaching is exceptionally good. Her instructions are clear and consistent, and she is unfailingly patient in reminding students of hand/body placement, direction of energy, use of body weight, etc.. And she's so fun and kind! Byron's an amazing place to study. I loved living in the Sunrise/industrial area and walking to the beach, going into town, etc. If you're considering this course, I would say absolutely sign up or contact Valentina to speak further. I'm excited to go home and keep practicing what Valentina taught me. Thanks, Valentina! :)

Learning Thai Yoga Massage with Valentina has been a very precious adventure in my life.
I started with the Basic course with Valentina. It was just great and already equipped me with a powerful complete full body massage sequence I could practice. That course being so fascinating made me hungry for more. I was desperate to do the Practitioner’s level of Thai massage and last week I completed my three- week amazing journey with Valentina. If the basic course was absolutely thrilling, the Practitioner’s course appeared to be beyond my expectations. It opened for me new dimensions of massage techniques.
I’d wished for a perfect teacher to teach me Thai massage. And by perfect teacher I meant someone skilful, knowledgeable, meticulous and diligent but most of all inspirational. I was lucky to find Valentina who is an embodiment of a perfect teacher. She creates learning space that is supportive, free of judgement or competition. There is o much to learn within a relatively short period of time both practical and theoretical, but the way Valentina organises her course makes it all possible. I don’t believe I could find a better place to learn Thai Massage. I will be back for advanced practice for sure. Valentina’s passion is contagious. I can’t recommend her enough.
The course prices are very reasonable and give the student enough skills and knowledge to deliver high quality Thai Massage treatments with confidence and passion.
Thank you, Valentina!

I first heard of Byron Thai Massage School whilst i was living in Thailand last year. I met a lovely Australian who'd studied with Valentina and unbelievably she gave the best Thai massage i experienced in all of the months i was in the country ( and i had ALOT of massages!)
On my return to Australia i was looking to do something new and on a whim checked out Byron Thai massage school, luckily enough the 3 week intensive practitioner course was starting the following week so i jumped on board. The enrollment and payment process was a breeze and Valentina was lovely to deal with via email, thoroughly explaining and providing everything i needed to know about the course prior to it beginning.
I had no previous massage or anatomy experience and found myself a little overwhelmed with information in the first few days but Valentinas thoroughly thought out manual and practical, open teaching style found me easing into it with a much more relaxed approach by the end of the first week.
The days are very long, however broken up perfectly between (an amazing) yoga practice, breakfast, a demonstration, lunch and the afternoon spent practicing on eachother. 6pm rolled around before i knew it nearly everyday.
The morning yoga classes were fantastic and so beneficial in preparing us physically and mentally for the day ahead. Valentina was very upfront with how physically and emotionally demanding the course would be when i enrolled and she was definitely not exaggerating! But the yoga classes teamed with the supportive, open space Valentina provides meant i never felt it was too much and i looked forward to returning each morning. By the end of the 3 weeks i was noticeably much stronger and more flexible than before and i felt fantastic, physically and mentally.
The body awareness classes ran by Peter were really interesting, learning the importance of quality of touch and how to correctly use our bodies whilst massaging really added a deeper layer and another level of benefit to the course.
I personally found the course to be a great balance between challenging, rewarding and a lot of fun. I walked away with so much knowledge of the human body that i now can't believe that after all these years of living in one, didn't already know! Valentina explains even the most complex and scientific information in a clear and easy to understand way and she is accommodating to everyone's different learning styles and abilities. Her ability to hold such strong attention to detail and technique for the whole 3 weeks really allowed everything to sink in. Valentina is a lovely person and a great teacher, with her many years of practicing Thai Yoga Massage she is definitely our local master. Her passion for this wonderful healing practice, the time and dedication she has put into creating the course and the serene environment in which she offers it really sets Byron Thai Massage school apart. Whether wanting to practice professionally or just learn something new, i believe anyone would enjoy and benefit from this course and by the end of the 3 weeks no doubt fall in love with Thai Yoga Massage and the endless benefits it offers for both the practitioner and client.

Thank you to Valentina for putting together and offering this first class course in Traditional Thai Massage. I did the intensive three week full practitioner version and that's what I'm reviewing. While the course is full on, it has been designed very cleverly, and this design prevents it from becoming overwhelming. No doubt teaching massage involves practical based training, but to successfully understand and emulate the practice requires good pedagogy or ability to package information in such a way that it easy unfolds in our mind and sinks in naturally. I've done many natural medicine based courses, and can see that Valentina has put a lot of effort and good thought into her course design, to firstly, make a budding practitioner understand what it means to touch, e.g. the different types of touch, and how touch with presence, purpose and intention, which are so important as a bodywork therapist. Secondly, through the almost daily yoga classes that we attended with Uschi our trainer, before the massage training, we got to understand what yoga is, how it changes our body and what the yoga poses are that we must actually put our clients into. We also learned through Peter, our body movement instructor, how to properly focus and balance our energy by becoming aware of our core and spine, which are key ingredients in giving a client a quality massage. By starting with this fundamental foundation, everything that follows in the course becomes easy to digest and pick up. Each day was divided into bite sized manageable portions, with plenty of breaks and time to relax. We were able to watch Valentina in action, plus feel her instruction when we volunteered as a 'body', and then received close attention and correction while doing it ourselves in pairs. The first two weeks take you through Levels I-II-III, with the final week giving you time to focus solely on practice, as well as trouble shoot in case you don't get, or haven't fully grasped something. This last week of practice is critical and makes all the difference. The final day is an exam where you get to practice on a total stranger and receive impartial feedback, something that gives you confidence to take the next step, which is to continue practising and offer TTM to the public. From start to finish, this course is excellent, and opens your mind to the concept of dynamic medicine, which Traditional Thai Massage is. Valentina is the perfect instructor: welcoming, friendly, direct, funny, strict, knowledgeable and experienced. She knows what she's talking about, and she has collected a group of talented instructors in body movement and yoga, who are keen to impart their own experiences and knowledge about the human body and its healing capacity. Thank you to all of them for an eye opening three weeks.

I have recently enjoyed participating in the 'Basic Course' at Byron Thai Massage School.
Anyone could study Thai Yoga Massage ‘till the cows come home’ and if there has been no hands-on engagement with the teachings we may be largely clueless - thanks to the invaluable and patient guidance of Valentina I have gained a perfect and practical introduction to the art of thai massage.

For anyone serious about learning Thai yoga massage. This is possibly one of the best places to begin your training. Based in Hong Kong , I had the choice of one of the many schools in Thailand or Valentina’s Byron Thai yoga massage school in Australia’sByron Bay and I decided on Valentina’s based on the rave reviews from alumni and choosing to go to Valentina’s was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I recently completed the 3 week intensive Course and have throughly enjoyed my time training with Valentina and my amazing course mates. Valentina has devised a very detailed and well rounded course with yoga classes and movement classes to supplement our training/practice. She’s a very experienced , open and nurturing teacher, constantly correcting, watching and listening to us to make sure we were executing the right techniques on clients and that we as bodyworkers were practicing in a way that feels good, safe, sustainable and efficient.

The 3 week intensive course was a very fulfilling and nourishing experience and Valentina has inspired me to learn more about Thai yoga massage. I came off the course a little more confident, more aware of my own physicality/body and fitness level. A well taught Thai Yoga Massage set in beautiful Byron Bay. HIGHLY recommended * .

I had waited so long to do this intensive, that I was a little worried that it wouldn't stand up to the anticipation I'd built up. How wrong I was.

Valentina's Thai Yoga Massage course was so much more than I expected. It was intense, challenging, rewarding, empowering, deep and fulfilling. Not to mention the huge amount of work received during the course, which I've found really energising and healing.

The yoga at the start of each day was a deep experience as well. I have newfound love for yoga practice and I am going to incorporate more of it in my daily routine.

Valentina is a passionate, precise, joyful teacher, and her knowledge of the various techniques is awe inspiring. I can't wait to get back to work and spread the love for Thai Yoga Massage to my clients! I'm sure they'll love it as much as I do. Thank you! I want to come back and do it again already!
