We went on the sunrise beach ride and I have to say, it was one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve had although we were fortunate enough to have a small group of similar abilities and the most picture perfect sunrise!
Zephyr itself is a really nice organisation (and I’ve tried most around the area). The horses are happy and well looked after, the guides are lovely and the scenery is beautiful. The sunrise beach to forest rides seem a bit pricey but are really worth it. They also take loads of photos to give you at the end which is a cute touch and very much appreciated!

Getting there was pretty easy. The horses looked happy and comfortable. My instructors were Britt and Jasper, they were very kind and professional we had a nice chat. The ride (I did the two hour sunset ride to the beach) was absolutely beautiful I loved every second of it. It was really nice that they let people do different things based on their riding experience. So for example for me it was amazing that I could still canter twice even tho there where people in the group that never did ride a horse before (on the beach we cantered separately and in the forest the group split up for the last few 100 meters). I even got a nice Video of me cantering and some photos you can just download afterwards.
So 10/10 would recommend Zephyr Horses :)

"Cammy was amazing. Our daughter was scared and she made her feel completely released and safe. She engaged us throughout the whole ride and kept us feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the ride and the beautiful scenery around us. We can’t wait to come back again. "

We have both been riding for years at many different venues both at home (Japan) and abroad. The forest to beach tour was superb and one of the best rides I’ve participated in. Our guide, Paula not only showed us the best of Byron Bay but also provided good learning points for my partner and took many photos and short movies. The route was interesting and varied; the guide knowledgeable and fun; the experience was excellent. Highly recommended.

I loved the ride a lot and it feels good to be back in the saddle.
The beach looked amazing and it so lovely to do a bit of forest too!
I’ve struggled with a bit of anxiety over the last period of time even as an intermediate rider.
But Paula was able to listen to me and made me feel secure so did it in the end!
Thanks Lisa for the information during the track.
Defenitly would recommend coming here for a ride!

We had the most amazing private forest to beach ride with Lisa! I am experienced at riding and rode Val and my husband who is a beginner rode Fireball. The horses were immaculately behaved, knew exactly what to do and cared for us well! Our guide Lisa was so fantastic, she gave us loads of time to canter along the beach and trails. The private ride was so worth it! If we hadn’t have done that my husband as a beginner wouldn’t have been allowed to canter on the beach. It was so nice to see happy and healthy horses with a great home and it really reflected on the tour. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again and recommend!!

We are a repeat rider to Zephyr haven’t been for a few years (Covid) but the incredible Claudia remembered us. She’s a really incredible Horsewoman. Her Horsemanship and connections to animal and humans is such an asset to your business. It feels like she’s allowing us the biggest privledge being invited into something really special. We had a special needs customer on our ride and seeing Claudia engage with her was really special. And then of course there was Ellie - equally a pleasure to ride with. They were kind, engaging and we loved every minute. Love the new 2 hour format too. Horses beautiful to ride also. It’s clear they are cared for

My kids were not overly impressed when we told them we had to be up at 5am for our sunrise ride at 5.45am. The teens especially. However, they were all in complete agreement that this was a real highlight on our trip. Guides Camille and Jasper looked after us and we’re friendly, reassuring, informative and lovely company! They allocated the horses to us based on size and temperament. They were all so calm and well behaved- as beginners we really did not have to do much!
The ride lasted for 2 hours and was spectacular. A beautiful route through the forest spotting Kookaburras and wallabies before opening out onto the beach to watch the sun come up- simply wonderful.
Camille took my 10 year old on his horse into the sea which he loved. We all felt very safe at all times and even had a go at trotting on the way back.
The guides took plenty of photos for us which was really appreciated. Not having the distraction of a camera/phone enabled us to really enjoy the experience. The photos taken for us were perfect.
I would not hesitate to recommend this experience for all ages and abilities. It really was a highlight for us.

Hi may i know how do we get to your place by public transport if we are not driving? Or do you provide transfer service from central train station where we will be staying? Thank you!
Written 15 September 2018
Hi,
We are located at the end of Bayshore Drive, Byron Bay (out the back of the arts and industry estate, just past Elements Resort). It’s approximately a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of town.
A taxi will cost about $10-$15. There is also now the Solar Train from town which will drop you off a 5 minute walk from us. Alternatively, it’s a 1 hour walk (approx) along Ewingsdale road to us.
Cheers!

is the forest ride recommended for kids? age 9 and 7 height of 140 and 120? and is the rides available in August as well?
Written 28 May 2018
Hi Candy, Yes for ki's that age we recommend the 1 hour forest trail ride, however they will still also be able to do the 1.5 hour forest to beach ride. These rides will be available throughout August. Please email us for a ride schedule. Thank you.

Can we canter and or gallop as we are experienced riders? We don’t want to just stroll along the beach
Written 24 March 2018
Hey Debbie, Yep, even on our mixed experience group tours you will have the opportunity to canter, however not all parts of the track are suitable for fast-paced riding in groups. We also offer private tours if you want to set your own pace! :) Dave

Hi, just wondering... How should I dress for the horse riding tour?
Written 25 August 2016
Hi! Please wear long pants and enclosed shoes. We also recommend bringing sun cream (if it’s hot!) and a rain jacket (if it looks like it might be wet!). We supply helmets (note Helmets are compulsory). We also have some riding boots available but please bring enclosed flat shoes.
