Sam hosted a fabulous plant based cooking experience shared with my son and daughter as a birthday treat. We were welcomed into Sam’s kitchen with an explanation on ingredients we were using: some day to day ingredients and a few that were more unusual or seasonal. Sam did a fantastic job explaining everything we were doing, answering all our questions and coaching us through the various processes and timing. We ended up with a really tasty meal, recipes and practical tips to use in our day to day cooking and entertaining, and a lovely, lasting memory. I love Sam’s approach to food and creative ways to adapt recipes and dressings. We also were able to enjoy her fascinating art collection! Definitely a bonus.

We had a wonderful way to spend a few hours! Our families did a 'Masterchef' challenge and cooked a delicious 3 course lunch; in the process we learned a lot about the goodness of certain ingredients. Sam and her team were super professional, knowledge and fun - an excellent experience all round.

Loads of fun and learning all blended together ! We had a list of items we wanted to learn, did that, and plenty more. Sam is fun to work with, fun to learn from, and super versatile on the floor. We took this class to learn a few specific dishes that we pre arranged, and as the class went on we ended up chatting, laughing and freestyling our time away. I left thinking this was a really worthwhile, enjoyable, and value for money workshop/funshop/workcourse/workhorse. It is Sam's ability as a person to adapt with her fun happy personality to make this product unique and a total must do for anyone interested in food.

Sam went out of her way to create an amazing cooking experience for my 9 year old daughter. She was caring, explained things well to her and totally inspired her!
Thank you Sam, Tori now really looks up to you and is inspired even more to keep cooking!

Toward the end of last year, I attended a pottery making and food education day retreat, run by Sam Gowing and The Clay Barn in the Byron hinterland.

It was a wonderful day. We moulded plates and bowls with clay, and then attended a cooking demonstration run by Sam. The day then got better, when we were taken to a secret location and shared a beautiful lunch that Sam prepared during the demonstration.

I've just received the finalised pottery product we made and, while The Clay Barn had a heavy hand in helping, I am very chuffed to be able to bring home my own product which I love.

Thanks to Sam and The Clay Barn for a great day. All ladies involved were very personable and made for such an enjoyable time.

I was planning a trip to Australia to visit family in Darwin. Knowing it was a long journey i wanted to make the most of my time over the other side of the world from Wales and create some time by myself. I googled three of my top interests - surfing, spa treatments and cooking - in an area which looked stunning on Instagram - Byron Bay. I found Sam! We arranged a Skype call and when i said i was interested in Ayurveda as well as healthy living she promised me we would touch on that with the selection of spa treatments and underlying through the recipes we cooked. What a find! It was obviously meant to be.

Sam created an itinerary for me which we discussed over email, and on arrival at my boutique hotel, The Atlantic, waiting for me was a lovely pack of goodies and the plan for the week.
The following morning we met in person for the first time and it was effortless, we got on so well!

Sam showed me round the area, the town and the hinterland. We cooked at her kitchen, and visited local restaurants, cafes and hotels to see what Byron was all about. One of my questions was why has Byron got it so right? Sam answered these by introducing me to her friends and colleagues as we travelled round the area.
On the last day, we spent time discussing business ideas for me to take back to Wales with me and that was fantastic, she understood my goals.

The spa treatments were idyllic and perfectly placed to send me to sleep mid-afternoon to assist with overcoming jet lag.

Sam arranged surfing lessons with the almighty Rusty Miller each morning. The Atlantic provided bikes so i would cycle over to The Pass at 6:30am and meet Rusty for some beach yoga before braving those mischievous waves. Though Rusty was a teacher, he simply was a guru too. Whatever he said to me on the beach and before that second Australian wave worked wonders as i was gliding for what seemed like hours on my second attempt.

I would entirely recommend contacting Sam to find out what she can do for you in Byron Bay, be a classic cooking session, birthday meal, and simply being the Girl About Town.

Dear Lucy, Thank you so much for your lovely words and I am sure it was no accident that we met. The locals still ask after you and they hope that you're still surfing! Sam.

I was referred to Chef Sam Gowing by the great team at 100 mile table and my expectation where set high !

From the moment of contact with Sam I knew immediately that my hopes for my event would be delivered in an exsquiaite fashion.

Sam curated a beautiful menu that incorporates fresh seafood, slow cooked meats, scrumptious sides and what was promised to be divinely served.

Fast forward a few months later and a few quick emails between Sam and myself and Sam and I found ourselves celebrating the success of the welcome dinner for my 30th birthday for my nearest and dearest.

Sam and her team delivered beyond incredible service, the food was second to none and my guests where blown away by the hospitality shown by Sam and her stellar team !

Sam is a genuine and special soul and i feel so lucky to have met her and experienced her charm.

My husband and I recently attended a corporate wellness lunch run by Byron Bay Cooking School along with 17 others. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sam was really happy to answer questions and share her considerable knowledge and recipes and the food was fabulous. Definitely recommend this experience.
