We'd been to Bowral many times before but sometimes you get sucked in by the main drag (Bong Bong Street) and miss what's down the side roads. And this visit to Dirty Janes was just one of those occasions.
When you walk through the front entrance, nothing prepares you for the enormity of the warehouse and how many stalls and items there are for sale. There's no right direction to walk in but it is fairly easy not to double-back on yourself but equally quite easy to lose your partner!!
There is so much to view, read, touch and handle that you could quite easily spend half-a-day @ Dirty Janes. We spent a good 90mins in here exploring everything and wishing we'd brought a bigger vehicle!
For those moaning about the prices, I'm not sure what they were expecting and you can haggle and negotiate with the friendly staff even if they might have to make a call to a stall holder.
Certainly worth a visit if you have the time.

Interesting, diverse, well set out AND, clean toilets, always a bonus! Great choice of cafe's very close by too. Fabulous atmosphere! I could spend a whole morning or afternoon in there and when I do, I never leave empty handed. Love it and visit every time I go down to see family.

A feature of our annual trips to the Southern Highlands is a visit to Dirty Janes. The range of second hand and collectibles is so varied that quite often it pays to allow plenty of time or visit on a couple of days to see it all.
From tools, clothes, antiques, cameras and hand crafts - it is all displayed throughout the warehouse sized building. The premises are divided into small booths with individual proprietors under a co-op style payment system.
There is also a good range of garden plants and accessories and on-site coffe shops and eateries.

This was my second visit here. Lovely place with interesting objects and a great variety. Browsing takes some time! Toilets available, and there's also tea-room which we didn't visit. Lovely garden centre outside worth browsing through as well. Great for rainy days but also a must-do when visiting Bowral. There is a parking area opposite which fills up quickly, but we found parking down near the railway line, just down from the Milk Factory Art Gallery.

This mix of different items under the same roof is a great way to spend a few hours. There are antiques, new and old homewares, plants, old and new clothing, books and many other items all under the same roof. There are also a few coffee shops nearby.

Make a day of visiting this place - you will really need it - there is just so much to see and do. The building is deceptive when you enter, because its a labyrinth of sheds, lanes, corridors, outhouses and courtyards. We had tea and soup in the official cafe ( very nice) but discovered several other cafes, coffee carts and restaurants dotted throughout the entire precinct. There must be literally 100's of stall holders - you would need days to take it in. My favourite was the Orangerie , which was in a separate green house in one of the laneways with garden things and plants. Very, very pretty.

Open daily from Monday to Sunday, Dirty Janes is housed within a large warehouse in the centre of Bowral. It is a delight to explore around this quaint indoor emporium. Some 80 independent dealers offer an eclectic range of vintage & antique pieces including elegant furniture , pre-loved clothing, creative artwork, handmade jewellery, high quality homeware and glassware, collectibles and curios.

Each to their own, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. This place is obviously not for me, I really saw nothing in it beyond lots of bric a brac, some of which was quite junky, at steep prices. I did a quick lap and was out in under 10min. Not sure what all the fuss is about, I really saw nothing in it. Sorry

This was such an interesting, eclectic market place. Simply a vast collection of homewares, furnishings etc in an expansive space, in the heart of Bowral. A great place to browse and plenty of little eateries nearby too. Definitely worth a look.

Eight family members visited Bowral on a Sunday afternoon and had booked in for a 2:30pm high tea. Our party included three coeliacs and tea room within Dirty Janes looked after all of us magnificently. The three coeliacs received their own three tier cake rack of sandwiches, scones and cakes and they were delighted with them. The rest of us received two three tier cake racks and a mix of sandwiches, scones and creams and cakes. We too were delighted and by the end were also full. My partner choose tea, while the rest of us opted for espresso coffees or hot chocolates. The woman who looked after us was brilliant and welcoming and everyone really enjoyed the experience on a cold and wet afternoon.

When is Dirty Janes open over Easter & when is High Tea available?
Written 14 April 2017
Not sure about opening hours. Normally Bowral is a go to destination during school holidays and Easter/Christmas. Either way go extra early waiting times can be very long.
