Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great older style cinema. 4 cinemas in complex. 2 smaller theatres (2 & 3). 3 is very cosy. 4 is the best & 1 is the largest. Chairs are quiet comfy. Cinema is located in the middle of the main street and is located next to Westpac but access is down the laneway & then upstairs. You can park around the back (limited spots) or in the main street at night. There is a small lift to get you upstairs if you are mobility challenged, but otherwise there is a staircase halfway along the laneway access. Cheaper prices for all items that can be purchased than the big cinema chains in the city, from tickets to choc tops. I have always found the staff to be friendly and accessible. Less ads than the city chains but you only get 1 trailer per movie. Great little cinema

Just returned from The Southern Highlands after a break. Great night Saturday night in Bowral, watching ‘Irresistable’ (highly recommend very clever) with all the prerequisite choc tops and popcorn in hand.
Good sound quality and a great country feel to the cinema. Located very centrally, easy parking on the main street, and the air conditioning was really perfectly set. We sat in the middle on the top teir and enjoyed the afternoon session.

But old fashioned but good because of it. Clean and tidy, decent choice of snacks and movies (up to date) and good price at $15 a head (adult). Theatre three, one I went to, is very cosy. Staff friendly and efficient. Recommended.

A classic country cinema! Very reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. One of my favourite highlands haunts. Nothing can top a big bucket of popcorn and a good film!

Once again enjoyed a movie at the iconic Bowral cinema.
$12 dollars for a ticket, latest movies available.
Close to get a coffee and lunch nearby, also parking for 3 hours with a voucher from the cinema.
Cheap popcorn and ice creams also available.
Great staff and always clean.

Arriving on the first floor with the suggestive buttery popcorn aroma adds to this quaint little theater, bringing back childhood. A few small cinemas suffice to provide the latest thing, without being herded before you get your choc top! I have also attended some fab live concerts on occasion...fun venue. We chatted with the artists.Abit of fun.

Absolutely fabulous independently owned cinema. A must visit. $11 child or concession, $13 for adult, $40 for family of 4. Such reasonable prices including the popcorn, choc tops etc. A good tip for locals is to join the Kids Club - every second visit gets them a free popcorn , or drink. All in all a lovely place to visit.

It's always a pleasure taking the latest events at Bowral's Empire cinemas.
Unlike the chain cinemas in main cities, this is independent and caters very well for the locals: latest-release and Arthouse movies, stage plays, live events etc.
There is always room for a relaxed enjoyment and tickets are moderately-priced, especially for groups, the seniors etc.
