Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kidman Way is a good sealed road that gave me a fast route between Bourke and the Riverina. I can't say much more about it. I wasn't looking for a scenic drive or any side trips but the whole way seemed very standard flatland with very little between the Darling and Lachlan Rivers except for Cobar - which is surprisingly nice for a mining town this far out and is worth a stop.

The good news for you is that when you are driving the Kidman Way is that you only have to look out for snakes, lizards, wild goats, kangaroos, galahs, cockatoos, eagles and livestock on the road...which makes life rather interesting. I believe I spent more time than I should have trying to swerve around vivacious lizards than I should have... they wanted to stand in the middle of the road and model... sadly many were dead on the road and it saddened me...so I went from being sad to angry... angry because it was like they wanted to seppuku - you know, like the Japanese want an honourable death. .. as do the lizards!

But when the lizards aren't battling with mechanical devices ... there are gorgeous wildflowers to look at along side the road... stunning bursts of colour. The soil is a red colour so everything pops ... the green, the yellow, the purple, the whites.... it's an exceptionally stunning drive.

The road was inspired by pastoralist Sir Sidney Kidman’s desire to open up inland Australia. The route cuts through the centre of rural NSW from south to north which means you will be going through historic and quirky towns... I believe the driving distance if you want to do this drive is 820 kilometres and you could do it in a day...but then, what a waste! There is so much to stop and explore.
