Beautiful heritage building and recreation
Apr. 2021
The columns at the entrance create a striking impression of an imposing civic building. The architecture and sandstone construction make it a beautiful structure. Inside the attempt to recreate the court in its heyday are professionally done. Exhibits give an insight into convict life in the early years of the colony.

Beautiful old sandstone building
Jan. 2021
They really knew how to build them back in the colonial days. This is a beautiful old sandstone building that is well worth the stop if only to appreciate the work of master craftsmen from days gone by.

silly but fun
Dec. 2020
It's a bit corny, but it's fun, even for an adult. It's $10, which I think is fair value, especially since this place (as it loves to tell you!) doesn't get any government money

Don't miss it - interesting building to visit
Sep. 2020
This historic building was very interesting to visit. The displays were informative and the sound and light show entertaining and a little bit spooky. The building itself is very grand and the wall pannelling a treat. Well worth a visit.

NSW Colonial History
Jul. 2020
An absolute fabulous example of colonial architecture built in 1838 in the ongoing style of Convict Architect Francis Greenway. You can do a tour of the interior with plenty of interesting history & an insight into penal conditions of the 1800's & admission fees go towards restoration & upkeep. Located opposite the active correctional centre or Gaol (Jail) in old speak!! Plus a gift shop as well!

The most fun you'll ever have in court
Jul. 2020
If you like architecture, history, true crime or a little bit of paranormal spookiness, this historic building is well worth a visit. If, like me, you enjoy all of the above then Berrima Courthouse is a Must Do. The two friendly, funny and informative gentlemen manning the reception/gift shop were worth the price of admission alone. The self-guided tour is cheap and the money goes right back into maintaining/restoring the building. The tour is short (if you want it to be) and has a great mixture of video, light and sound shows and visual/written history. It's interesting, well presented and just the right amount of spooky.

I did not know anything about Berrima nor the Courthouse before I visited and was pleasantly surprised by the care and attention that had gone into making this attraction come alive. The outside on a damp day may look auster but inside the story is well told and is good value for money. I could have spent long er there.

Mannequins and more
Mar. 2020 • Friends
The courthouse is a grand old sandstone building built in regency style. The advertised sound and light show is very dated and the mannequins old and dusty. There are few gems on display like barbaric metal gags that convicts in the adjoining goal would wear for up to 9 months! The audio on the mock trail (based on the transcripts of a real trial) isn’t the greatest and the trial room is very gloomy and unlit (I presume to create atmosphere for the sound and light show). Is it worth the $10 entry fee? From my perspective it is as all the money goes in to the restoration fund to maintain this imposing building. And finally you emerge in to a room which is, for some inexplicable reason, full of handmade scented soaps ready for purchase. If you like cheesy, this is the place for you.

Worth a visit
Dec. 2019 • Couples
My family and I were staying in Berrima between Christmas and New Year for a few days and we decided to visit the Berrima Courthouse. This was actually my second time visiting here and my parents first. We started off with a short film detailing the history of the courthouse before making our way round the rooms and learning about convict life and Berrima itself. There was a beautiful patchwork quilt on display and we also enjoyed reading the rules for teachers and nurses back in the day.we came across some bits about the notorious Ned Kelly before stepping foot inside the court room which had a light and sound display. I found this a little cheesy and sometimes hard to hear but it was a different way of bringing a court hearing to life with mannequins of the defendant and jury.

Take a look inthe gift shop at the end for soaps, books and souvenirs. Would recommend a visit if this is your first time here and is affordably priced.
