Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An absolute fabulous example of colonial architecture built in 1838 in the ongoing style of Convict Architect Francis Greenway. You can do a tour of the interior with plenty of interesting history & an insight into penal conditions of the 1800's & admission fees go towards restoration & upkeep. Located opposite the active correctional centre or Gaol (Jail) in old speak!! Plus a gift shop as well!

I did not know anything about Berrima nor the Courthouse before I visited and was pleasantly surprised by the care and attention that had gone into making this attraction come alive. The outside on a damp day may look auster but inside the story is well told and is good value for money. I could have spent long er there.

The columns at the entrance create a striking impression of an imposing civic building. The architecture and sandstone construction make it a beautiful structure. Inside the attempt to recreate the court in its heyday are professionally done. Exhibits give an insight into convict life in the early years of the colony.

This historic building was very interesting to visit. The displays were informative and the sound and light show entertaining and a little bit spooky. The building itself is very grand and the wall pannelling a treat. Well worth a visit.

Visited the court house as the reviews had indicated it was definitely worth a look.
A lovely old building. When you first arrive you watch a 10 minute video which is interesting, giving you a history of the court house.
You then go on a self guided tour which doesn’t take long. Not a lot of exhibits but what was on display do tell a story. You walk through 2 cells which certainly give you a feel of what it would’ve been like.
The courtroom is very disappointing I expected you would be able to see around this area but it is dark because you sit through a very average court room story, that depicts the outcome of a trial.
Overall ok.

The Courthouse is a lovely historic building, we thought we'd splash the $9 and see the spectacular sound and light show whilst there. A video presentation to start was ok and a chance to sit a while- we then went into the courtroom to see the trial which was frankly rather feeble. Small shop selling books- soaps (?) etc. Given a walking guide to Berrima which was quite useful. Always like to see the positive in things but felt this was all a bit underwhelming.

I know, I know. It's a historic court house, what did I expect ?
I expected a dodgy video presentation, check. Only 15 so survivable.
I expected a lot of old photos, check.
I expected a lot of information on the local history, check.
I expected it to be staffed by volunteers who thinks their history is the most exciting topic, they just won't shut up about it, check - got that in droves.
What I did not expect, was the actual court room would be full of crappy, dressed up dummies with an overreacted audio track with everyone yelling at each other and the volume of the audio track ! Wow, we could not stay in the court room at all with that thing on. It sucked.
And if you go to see a historic court house, the court room is kinda the key room !
Save your cash, go across the old highway and buy an ice cream.

The museum displays inside indicated the brutality of the system with objects specific to the gaol that I'd not ever seen in a pioneer museum

They really knew how to build them back in the colonial days. This is a beautiful old sandstone building that is well worth the stop if only to appreciate the work of master craftsmen from days gone by.
