Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very friendly and helpful. A staff member greeted me and assisted in picking up the brochures that I was looking for, to plan my activities while in Ballina. It was a very spacious centre and well stocked with handouts, souvenirs, local produce like honey, many crafts and gift items. I was very impressed. Make a visit and feel the warmth of local hospitality.

Not really an attraction but a starting point. In these days where most things can be found on the internet, it's nice to get a quick snapshot of what to do in the local area. It was nice to get inside with some air con out of the heat, and the naval museum is right across the road. I asked a question about how to get to the Big Prawn and also a few walks around town and the lady at the desk was quite helpful and pleasant. There was a bit of info about restaurants and accommodation around town too.

We’re locals who have have a lot of overseas and interstate visitors, so we often drop by for brochures and hints on things to do.
The staff are friendly informed and really helpful.
If you arrive in Ballina or any of the surrounding towns with no idea about what’s on, where to go or how to get there come see the staff at the visitor information centre.
The visit is really worth while.
Clueless before, but not after.

We went there to find out what was happening around town as we were in Ballina for 5 weeks.
The assistant was very informative and gave us a run down on pamphlets we might need. Also picked up a few books from the library that were for sale at a cheap price.

Thanks for your enquiry and I would suggest a visit to the Maritime Museum which features the Las Balsas raft which is the longest raft journey in history and the actual raft is on display amongst a myriad of other treasures. You must also take the Coast Road drive (Tourist Drive 30) featuring the beautiful beaches, the Ballina Headland lookout, which shows you the mouth of the Richmond River, Lighthouse and Shelly beaches. Stop for a coffee at The Lighthouse Beach Cafe above the Surf Club with views over Lighthouse Beach towards North Wall or just over the headland at The Belle General Cafe. The Tourist Drive continues up along the coast past Pat Morton Lookout high on the Lennox Headland with a spectacular sweeping views overlooking the National Surfing Reserve. The village of Lennox Head is a small village right opposite Seven Mile Beach featuring funky cafes and interesting one off shops and at the end of the main street you can enjoy a swim at Lake Ainsworth, a fresh water dunal lake directly opposite the Surf Club on Seven Mile beach.
You can also visit the hinterland taking in the villages of Alstonville, Newrybar and Bangalow for a different perspective of Ballina Coast & Hinterland featuring cafes and eateries providing award winning local and fresh regional produce and Summerland House Farm, which is working avocado and macadamia farm with free entry and a tractor tour.
Please feel free to call in to collect maps and further information and have a chat to our friendly staff who can explain it all in more detail at 6 River Street Ballina
