Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth a photo stop if on your route, but don't go out of your way to view. Nice park, parking and toilets. Paint falling off on one side. Not a lot else nearby.

If you are in Adaminaby you can’t miss the big trout. It is worth stopping and taking a picture. There are also public toilets very close by.

A trip down memory lane.. we used to holiday in the region several tines a year for trout fishing with my father. When I was a child (7 and now I am 55) the trout seemed huge... it’s well maintained (now has a fence around it to stop climbers). I purchased food from the cake/burger shop and ate it in the park (food is YUMMY). Very peaceful. Lovely community...

If you like 'Big' things, I guess this should be on your list, but to me it was quite missable. We weren't travelling with our grandchildren, who might well have been impressed, but from my perspective, it's main interest is that it is just across the road from the Snowy Scheme Museum (which definitely is worth a visit - somewhat awkward opening hours though, so plan ahead). If it hadn't been for the museum, it would have occupied about half a second of my attention, which, IMHO, is about all it is worth.

It wasn't as big as what I remember it being. An old structure, but very unique. Public toilets nearby

Australia seems to be obsessed with "Big Things" and Adaminaby contributes the Big Trout. Celebrating the regions fishing attraction this statue appears to have been recently renovated and cleaned up. It actually looks good and is worthy of a stop and a quick photo. The park it is in has a picnic area and electric BBQ as well as public bathrooms and is very close to a number of shops. A good place to break your trip.

Yesterday my husband and I, and our two young daughters, stopped at the Big Trout for a picnic before heading up to the snow. Our girls loved the ‘Big Fish’ and I was most impressed with the facilities. There is a rotunda with BBQ, a large toilet block, water refill station, and a play area for kids with picnic tables alongside. My husband and I were able to sit and eat lunch and watch over our girls as they enjoyed the play equipment. We were joined by other families while we were there who were all very friendly and made for a very pleasant morning.

Well it’s a big trout ! Great little stopping place for a quick photo, toilet break and nice bite to eat. There are a few nice shops there to wander around and stretch your legs after a long drive.
