The Muse

We had a great time here looking at the exhibits reading articles and posters. Our host Pete is very knowledgeable and happy to engage in conversation. There are a couple of rooms oozing history and nostalgia. Well worth a visit. We also had a walking tour with Celia and Michele both Eel Pie Island residents. This was fun and informative. Look out for the Naked Ladies ! There are plenty of places to eat here in Church Street and by the side of The Thames.

Amazing

Traveling back in time it was amazing to see the hall of fame all the bands that had ever played on the island. Old ticket stubs and the amazing memorabilia that the rolling stones have donated . Loved rod Stewart signed football. It is small but a credit to the dedicated staff that have put it all together. The eel pie history is not all about music it also deals with the historic boar building yards some of which are still in existence. The cup of tea offered to us when we arrived on the rainy day was a nice touch. If you are in the area I throughly recommend a visit.

Boatyard: industrial, wartime, leisure boating.

Small but very interesting with so much information. Only really 2 rooms, but we could have spent at least 2hours reading and learning about this magical musical island. And at only £3 per person what a bargain. The lady that saw to us while we were there is very nolagable and passionate. Thank you and I hope its here for many years to come. Definable worth a visit!

A wonderful museum in Twickenham, all about music heritage!
Jan. 2020
A lovely museum in Twickenham showing the music heritage of Eel Pie Island where lots of famous musicians started their careers at a young age. Trevor Baylis the famous inventor who lived on the island was a great supporter of the museum. The museum has some great people who work there including Michele, Celia and Pete who make you feel very welcome. Any one who visits the museum also gets a discount on food at the close by Eel Pie Pub. If you visit the museum, I also recommend you walk over to Eel Pie Island and check out all the local artists studios.

What a find!
Mar. 2020
My husband and I were kids of the sixties and knew and visited The famous Eel Pie Island hotel , where many an up and coming band played. So what a surprise to find this excellent museum , when we were in the area. It charts the music , bands and amazing history of Eel Pie Island...The Rolling Stones, Acker Bilk, Paul Jones, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, on and on it goes they all appeared there . This is must visit an absolute treasure . I will remember our visit for years and hopefully we can revisit when we are in the area again.

Great place to find out about the music industry and its history. Run by volunteers and our guide was Celia, who was brilliant, lively and brought the whole subject to life and msde us a hot drink. Well worth a visit.
