Little gem

Absolute little gem of a chapel, quite unusual balcony inside, only tiny, has a little cafe inside when the chapel is open. Beautiful grounds and walks all around .

A great day out with the grandchildren. Building a bat and bird house. Helpful staff. A great place to spend a sunny afternoon.

The Chapel is small, the gardens quaint but in need of some attention but the historic element of the Chapel is very interesting. The surrounding Nature Reserve/ Countryside and Canal make a visit here worthwhile.

We visit here most days to walk our dog. We walk along the river from Marple Hall ruins. Our dog and kids love to play in the river. Sometimes we walk up to the canal through the woods. From there you can either turn left towards Romiley and come back round the back of the Chapel or turn right towards... More

The woodland walks are a good place to appreciate the changing seasons and the Coronation Meadow, the only one in Greater Manchester, is magnificent in summer. Seeds from it are used to start meadows in other locations. The chapel is both friendly and calm, a... More

The site features in the 1086 Doomsday Book, possibly as a monks retreat as I don't think a church was built on the site until much later. Interesting visit for history buffs.
