Very nice Manor House with a very interesting timed tour. Nice gardens and church. The house was the setting for the series Wolf Hall and will feature in the 3rd series of Poldark.

Entrance to the interior of the manor is by way of a hourly guided tour, (except at 1.00pm), which lasts approx. 45 minutes. However you only get to see 4 rooms, which was slightly disappointing given the size of the property. Outside there's the "Arts and crafts" garden to explore, where you'll discover a rose garden, long pond plus some... More

We visited Great Chalfield again when we were out and the sun was shining. It always makes me smile, small but beautiful and the gardens are so peaceful

A great local National Trust property. Small but unusual garden, with plenty of character. The house and garden have been used on television dramas and films.

As a National Trust member I cant really comment on the value, but the house tour is presented by the owners so very informative. The gardens and church next door are also worth a visit as all are well kept. A very peaceful part of the country.

First appearances - and you feel you are stepping back into the past in this still lived in house. It is utterly charming with a fascinating history brought to life by our guide (guided tours only). The contents and internal features of this special place are all packed with history and the gardens and church are lovely too. Well worth... More

What a lovely place to visit. Set in perfect surroundings the manor is a delight to see, along with the fantastic garden. The two guides we met on the tour ( possibly man and wife ? ) were the perfect hosts to make the most of the history and what there is to see. The front door and its history... More

Parking is in front GCM on the lane. We arrived to discover it was a Quiet Church & Garden day; some sort of solitary meditation. We checked in and booked for the 11am tour of the manor. Our guide told us it was her first tour of the new season, but she knew her stuff as she'd been a volunteer... More
