sadly the manor house is hut down

sadly due to council cuts the manor house had to shut down but there is one hope a volunteer group might take it over but don't come a long way to find it boarded up.

Closed by the local council and currently seeking a volunteer group to run it. When open it wa an excellent small local museum with artefact dating to the Roman times.

This was a jewel - a (mainly) 17th Century Manor House, looking out over Wharfedale from the heart of Ilkley. All we know is that there is a notice saying that it is closed permanently, and to contact Bradford Museums. However, the Friends of the Manor House are trying to establish a charitable trust to reopen it.

The Manor House was a delightful small museum in an historic building by the Church. It included relics of Ilkley's Roman and prehistoric past.

The Museum Manor house itself is a wonderfull building. The fireplace in original condition has well described artifacts , clearly explained. Also some very impressive Roman gravestones which have carvings of a family group , amazing ! Would recommend this Museum .

Stumbled on this after a meal at a local restaurant. Had a photographic competition that my wife and I were ablr to vote on which was good. The museum itself was an interesting insite into the history of Ilkley.

The old building is attractive as well as interesting and there are just enough exhibits and displays about the history of the town for the museum to do its job in summarising local heritage

It's worth a look around this small but interesting museum. It's also free. We only spent a short time looking around (about 30 mins) but thought it was a great little place. It's also worth a look in the church next door to see the Anglo Saxon gravestones.

A small museum with a lot to offer. An excellent archaeological display of Roman artifacts and architectural pieces along with local history and objects of interest. On the first floor was an exhibition of illustrations and original ''roughs'' by David Roberts who has illustrated childrens books by authors such as Jacqueline Wilson.,Julia Donalson, Peter Bently and many more.
