I walked the Dales Way solo 6 days in September of 2016. This was my second long distance walk, the first being the Cotswold Way a year previous. Overall, it was a pleasant and often beautiful walk. It starts along the banks of the River Wharfe, up through the Yorkshire dales, over some moorland, and into the Lake District. As... More

One of Britain's shorter 'long distance walks' (c.130 km). I found previous travel blogs really helpful in planning my walk, so I thought I'd return the favour by leaving mine here!! My Dales Way 'pilgrimage' was a 6-day solo camping adventure. Being only moderately fit and not having done long distance 'expeditions' for 35 years, I somewhat underestimated the challenge... More

despite what some reviews say this isn't a really easy walk - probably nearly 90 miles including diversions to accommodation and it's not all flat (but no gruelling uphill slogs) - so it seems like an achievement to complete it. Loads of very nice scenery; a lot by the riverside but not all. Some great b7bs to stay at but... More

The DalesWay is a good 6 day hike with staying in B n B's and almost 80 miles. You can do in sections or as one full walk. Lots of great places to stay along the way where you can meet other walkers and meet new friends. Do your research online before heading out. Trails are for the most part... More

Being one of the shorter LDPs the Dales Way is attractive to those who have never tried one before. But length isn't everything - it offers a good variety of attractive scenery, many attractive village locations and for the most part plentiful accommodation along the way. It is unusual for LDPs in that the route is designed to avoid strenuous... More

Highly recommend this walk. We did it over five days, it was quite tough, would recommend doing it in 7 days. Next time I'd love to do it backwards and finish in the dales rather than the lakes but that's mainly because I prefer the dales.

A beautiful walk along rivers, across moorland, through quaint villages. Took seven days to complete. Fortunate with the weather - autumn colours magnificent. Plenty of accommodation and eating places on route . Not a strenuous walk, just a couple of uphill sections easily manageable . Took time to visit some interesting places on route such as Bolton Abbey, Dent Church.... More

Beautiful walk up the valley next to the river Wharfe. We walked from Ilkley to Bolton Abbey and back again. The path is well marked and maintained.

The Yorkshire dales in the English Pennines are famed for their beautiful landscapes, unspoilt villages, andgraceful river bridges. This walk runs 135 km (82 miles) from Ilkley the length of Wharfedale, across the top of the Pennines to Ribbledale, Dentdale, Sedbergh and then on to Lake Windermere in the equally beautiful Lake District. It can be done in easy stages... More

We have done many Long Distance Walks over the years but we both agree this is one of the best. Not the hardest by a long chalk but it is beautiful. Easy to follow being well signed. This walk would rate highly in our top ten.
