Come enjoy the beach where Survivor Nicaragua was filmed in 2010. We have 3km of virgin white sand beaches. Great surfing, swimming, tide pooling, and we have horses ready to run you up and down the sand. Shuttles from town (SJDS) are available, and we have a beach bar/restaurant and hotel if you want to spend some quality time relaxing on the beach...

So I never stayed at the Surf Camp, but will in the future. I did come here several times to surf the beach and then also eat at the local bar / restaurant. So I will review that. 1. The Beach: This is by far the largest beach break that is readily accessible. Sure Playa Maderas has a much better... More

This beach is a gem, just a short drive south of Sa Juan del a Sur. It's huge and there is no one there. There is a hostel, restaurant/bar and a surf shop and that's about it. Very sandy beach with very few rocks or shells and when the tides out it must be 400 ft wide, you can walk... More

Amazing beach and location, but nothing was included and was also expensive (without including the tax & tip) the only thing they treated you was coffee in the morning. The service was also slow and lazy, and last order for dinner was 18.30 and the bar closed 20.00 witch really sucked. If they would stop being so stingy this place... More

This is a tourist trap. On the plus side, the beach is beautiful and deserted but, and it is a big but, you can not bring a cooler so you have to eat at the restaurant. It is not good and sooo pricey ;( really bad. The food, no matter what you order, is soo salty, impossible to eat the... More

I went to this beach for a day, and it was amazing! The hotel there is very cute, and the restaurant and hammocks created a great, beauty atmosphere that you never knew you wanted before. The sand was really hot, but the water was perfect to balance it out. There are live sand dollars and crabs and beautiful rocks out... More

We were brought here by one of the locals who suggested the place. It's about 1-2 hours from San Juan and there was a 3$ per person entrance fee. The beach itself was very nice and clean and surprisingly empty (which I love). There were lockers there, an inexpensive restaurant and free lounge chairs and tables. You could also rent... More

A huge expanse of beach, and good surf. Unfortunately the wind there in Feb made it difficult to enjoy any beach, due to blowing sand. But this beach has free lockers, (a small deposit returned when you leave) so you can lock up your stuff while you swim. You can rent boogie boards and surf boards. Outdoor showers, lots of... More

Loved this beach! Had plenty of shade to cool off in as well as tables to sit at while eating. We took a surf lesson with Jorge and it was awesome. This beach is a little out of the way but the trip and $3 entry per person was totally worth it. Less crowded than Playa Maderas but with equally... More

We visit SJDS annually and Playa Hermosa is a must visit. Often times we will spend 2 full days during our week long stay at this beach. It is quiet, has good surf variety, great beach for walking and the palapas, hammocks, and cold cervezas are perfect. Only complaint ....they don't serve Tona, and only Victoria.
