If flowers, trees and gardens are your thing in a real big way then I guess you'd be happy to fork out the 58 yuan entrance fee. It was perfectly okay and like most everything in China very well kept but quite honestly there are lots of other parks to visit and spend time in that to me were just... More

Xishuangbanna Tropical Nature Reserve, better known as “Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden” (XTBG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is located about 65 km east of Jinghong in Menglun Town/Mengla County. It took us about 2 hours by private car via the road S403 from Jinghong to the West Gate of this Botanical Park. There are parking area, ticket office and... More

Good for a long and relaxing walk. If you dont mind walking, I think you can skip the tourist bus. High entrance fee (100 yuan), but to me it was worth it.

I would only recommend this if you have extra time in the area, it shouldn't be a priority unless you really enjoy gardens or want somewhere to go picnic with family or friends. Its a lot of walking but there are tour carts available for added costs. A lot of things werent in bloom and it seemed like some areas... More

An incredible preserve with a wide variety of plants, trees and flowers. Suggest you tell your driver to take you to the side entrance (rather than the main entrance, which can be very crowded).

If you have very limited time, do visit, but if you have the time to go to the Menglun Gardens- about 1 1/2 hours out of the city, do so

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Xishuangbanna. The West section is a botanical garden, well laid out, well stocked, peaceful and with good signage. The East section is mainly rainforest and also worth a visit. The electric shuttle is worth taking into the garden but make sure to walk as well. There is a reasonable map... More

The Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve comprises 5 sites of various size, with some ongoing efforts to link them through "conservation corridors". This is a part of China with a remarkable diversity of plant species, a meeting place at the southern end of temperate vegetation and the northern end of subtropical vegetation. I emphasise plants because poaching of animals means few... More

Very nice place to visit. The best attraction, in fact. Vivid gardens and plants of all sorts. Deserves a full day visit. As usual in Mainland China parks - food inside parks is very limited and to the very low basics. Bring with you food from the city.

This is a really vast set of gardens, where you are whisked around on small buses. Many parts are interesting-- the palm tree area, for example, among others. But this place is really packed with people and it is not easy to walk from garden to garden, which detracted a bit for us, as we like to really walk! If... More
