Swallow cave was okay ... very large and well-organized tours BUT ... unfortunately it has lost it's natural appeal in many ways. I am more of an adventurous type, so this type of set-up doesn't suit me well. I didn't like the motorized dragon boats and the restaurant inside the cave. Sadly, a very beautiful cave has become all too... More

This freak of nature and ornitholody is halfway between Jianshui and Gejiu. The karst formations are lure, but what you will want to see are tens of thousands of swallows flying around in spring and summer. The cave is split into two - one high and dry, the other low and wet. The higher cave is made up of three... More

I was not sure wether to go so had no great expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The stalactites and stalagmites are impressive. I did not see thousands of swallows or hoards of tourists which made it peaceful. The river is broad and the ceiling high. Colored lights give a magical feel to the place which would make a fantastic festival... More

We had heard caves are Disneyesque and garrishly lit. So we had low expectations. When we walked to the pleaseent gardens and reached the large mouth of the cave, with Buddahs, placques and red prayers, our first impression was that we were glad we came. It was low season so there were few visitors. We were the ONLY ones that... More

If you are tired of seeing ancient temples and would like a change of pace, consider coming here as a short side trip from Jianshui. The caves are just off the highway that goes to Gejiu 个旧 and Mengzi 蒙自。 These are beautiful caves where swallows stop during their migration between April and August. Brightly costumed Yi minority girls will... More

Just out of town about 20 minutes, this huge cave entrance home to swifts is worth checking out, with its garden walk in and arrival at huge entrance with birds and incense.

as Europeans, you know well this kind of calc caves from the south of france... BUT: once anyway travelling in YUNNAN, it is a great short 1 hours escape into a "cool fresh air" cave. Nicely done, every stone has for sure a Chinese signification ;-), you will walk 3 Km into the cave and ride back with a boat.... More
