The highlight of three days in the area, better than Gettysburg Museum. Should be seen by everyone. Easy to find, very good parking and added bonus is a great view of Harrisburg.

If you are sensitive to chemical smells, be aware that there is an artificial, fragrant smell in all of the rooms that may induce a headache in those who are sensitive. The wax sculptures are clever. The artifacts from the American Civil War aroused my curiosity. If you like to participate in the museum experience by reading and watching video... More

This is a good place to learn a little about both sides of the Civil War. A self-guided tour will get you in and out in 2 hours. The Gift Shop is amazing-- large with lots of knick knacks and a few books.

Everything about museum was a learning experience. It looks at both sides of the Civil War. Also, had a place to eat and a gift shop to buy Civil War related items. Plenty of parking and easy to fimd,,,,it is right off the main street, Market Street.

I was impressed that having been to MANY Civil War battlefields and museums this one was still excellent. It presents the entire war from causes through the assassination of President Lincoln. It did a good job of presenting both northern and southern perspectives/ I enjoyed a series of "first" postings of things that started in the the civil war (medal... More

Wow..if you are interested in the Civil War you need to visit this museum. Lots of artifacts and exhibits that show the perspectives of both sides throughout the War...from preparation of troops, to equipment and leadership. We spent about 3 hours reading information, watching summary of each battle on video and looking at exhibits. You could easily spend an entire... More

I have visited many Civil War Museums. The ones in the north are biased to the north and the ones in the south are biased to the south. This museum sees the war from both sides. It is a true depiction of the Civil War.
