Wildwood Park is located in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania on the outskirts of downtown Harrisburg. Its 229 acres are a haven for countless species of flora and fauna centered around the 90 acre freshwater wetland. A popular three-mile loop trail encircles the park with side trails and boardwalks for a total of six miles of trails. Its attractive Olewine Nature Center features engaging exhibits on environmental education. Established in 1901, during the City Beautiful Movement, Wildwood was part of a nationwide effort to improve urban life. In 1976, the Dauphin County Commissioners assumed ownership of the property. Now managed by Dauphin County Parks and Recreation Department, Wildwood Park is one of Pennsylvania’s premier centers for environmental studies, educational opportunities and outdoor recreation. It is a cherished retreat for nature lovers, bird watchers and exercise enthusiasts.

Wildwood Parkview a great place to walk the trails around the large Lake. We take our dogs and meet many people along the trails. There is also a Nature Center where we take the grandkids. They love learning about the animals, birds and reptiles in and around the lake. Great family day!

A friend and I hike the 3 mile loop around Wildwood Lake numerous times a year. It is a nice hike any season of the year. It is also a good place for a bike ride or for dog walking. The environmental center has items of interest to both children and adults. There is a spot inside to sit and... More

For a number of years I have been visiting Wildwood Park in Harrisburg, which is situated behind Hacc College. I love walking the number of trails that have been created for peoples' access; one path which runs along the lake. The complete trail is 3.1 miles and can be walked fully, within an hour and fifteen minutes. It's really a... More

So, you want to see some pretty scenery while exercising? This is a great place for this and it's free! Folks walk, run, ride their bikes, walk their dogs, take pictures...I believe one "lap" is about 3 miles. There is one big hill, so you can definitely work up a sweat. I am perhaps a bit more cautious than most,... More

Take time to visit this beautiful urban oasis. The website lists a host of guided walking tours that I highly recommend.

great paved trails for walking with small children and dogs, lots of wild ducks, beautiful place to visit like a walk in the woods, Would not go alone during the week as it is isolated. Weekends in good weather there are lots of people there.

I walked the park trail late summer 2016 - it's a great walk! You are in the "woods"- very scenic! Yet, isolated! Felt a' bad-person' could do me harm if I had the misfortune to en countering same. I urge you not to walk the trails alone!

It's a getaway in my back yard. Mostly flat trails with a section in the rear with hills to ramp up the workout, literally. Stroller and bicycle friendly. Bring the family for a fun and educational venture or go alone (safely) for a time of reflection and or workout. Plan to spend an hour walking the 3+ mile trail, or... More

What a beautiful place to walk/run or just sight see. The park always seems to be free a litter and garbage. The information center is also a very nice place to stop on your venture. Love this place
