I have been to this bookstore twice and could visit 100 times and never see everything there is to see there. Had a great time relaxing with a piece of pie, a chai tea, and a enjoy a treasure hunt through a collection of used and rare books. The basement is amazing with a special section of art prints. Love the 1$ paperbacks on the sidewalk. The coffee shop is very nice with friendly staff and yummy treats. Not cheap, but not wildly expensive either. The basement is crazy fun to explore. I swear I thought I should find a minotaur somewhere in there. With all these wonderful books, why is the sci-fi section so tiny?

An independent bookstore is hard to find these days, and this one has all kinds of genres to choose from in an interesting and beautiful space. The books are priced reasonably, and I understand the space can be used for events as well. There is also a cafe and lots of people were sitting around reading and/or sipping on coffee... More

These folks claim to have over 200,000 used, rare and discounted books plus over one million online. If you browse there for a few minutes, you'll stop counting and just glory in the riches here. The coffee and rolls were delicious and apparently they have many community activities including book clubs, book signings, poetry readings and even classical music.

Today we decided to head out to do some shopping for books in Harrisburg. This was our first stop. It was easy to get to and had free parking in the back of the store. The surrounding area is inner city urban. Definitely be mindful walking around here. And take a whiff when you are in the side alley, it's... More

The Midstate Scholar Bookstore has an absolutely huge collection of books in all genres. They are arranged by categories such as local or state history, literature, new fiction. Prices are reasonable. It is easy to find out of print books that are no longer housed in the public library.

I first visited this bookstore on last Saturday (April 23rd) while visiting Harrisburg with my wife. We came up to visit the Civil War Museum (an awesome museum by the way). I dropped in late for a cup of coffee and was very impressed with the array of books and the overall atmosphere. On yesterday I stopped back by the... More

What a pleasant surprise to find this extraordinary & wide-ranging bookstore in downtown Harrisburg - with cafe! The vast collection, including local history, rivals any in big cities, such as famed Strand in NYC. Bet you can't walk out without buying at least one book.

It is a great place to spend your afternoon or the entire day. Large collection of art/history books, antique interior decoration, and a nice cafe!
