Great museum. Huge variety of all the history that has been and continues to affect and change Pennsylvania. Great exhibits and love the way of seeing it all in circular pattern layout.

On a Friday afternoon, cut a little short by closing time at 5, my sister-in-law and I soaked up PA and regional American history and even failed (mea culpa) to get us all the way to the top level, the recommended starting point. Admission is very reasonable -- $6 for 50+ like us, and group discounts very likely are offered... More

Cute museum and reasonably priced. Needs some updates and better plaques. Seems like they are in the process of doing this.

We made the State Museum of Pennsylvania a main stop on our Harrisburg visit. We had recently visited the Louisiana's state museum in Baton Rouge which gave us a frame of reference as to what state museums could be. We appreciated the tip to start at the top and make our way down the floors, and it's certainly easy enough... More

Varied collection with a little bit of something for everybody. We were lucky enough to be there when the William Penn charter was on display, which we were told was only one week a year.

My husband and I popped in for a couple of hours recently. We hadn't been here for years. Much of it was very similar to what we had remembered from a couple decades ago. The displays are interesting and pretty well presented, although probably in need of some updating at some point-- but we did enjoy it very much as... More

We love taking our 2 year old to the children's area of this museum and she can't get enough. She even enjoys the adult area when we take her upstairs. There are exhibits on the natural history and human/industrial history of PA. Not far from broad street market, sometimes we do both while we are downtown.

Took our home school group and everyone enjoyed it. The exhibits are well done and there is a great variety. The planetarium show was nice too. Price was not bad considering how nice it was.

We brought our six-year-old and eight-year-old daughter and they both had a variety of things that interested each of them in the museum. Our eight-year-old loved the old town and our six-year-old love the bugs!
