Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

We ended up very close by so decided to take a quick look. Great old building that is easy to see why they are so proud of it.

We enjoyed seeing what the state does to celebrate other cultures that live there too. Minus the rude assistant guy to the Lieutenant Governer that held the elevator for 10 minutes and wouldn't let anyone else in it.

Even though I have visited the capitol building many times over the past 30 years, I was amazed at the new information that I gained on the guided tour. The Guide was quite knowledgeable and added a new dimension to viewing this spectacular building.
