About
Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

If you have the time to visit this magnificent structure do go. Wildly elaborate, enormous and intricate spaces, and you can see the legislature at work when they are in session.

Unfortunately, we happened to visit on a day with tons of school kids shouting and taking a tour. Not fun! The building is beautiful and perhaps on a quieter day it would have been more enjoyable.
