We went biking along the McDade Trail, starting at Smithfield Beach and heading north for about 5 miles, and back. It was lovely. It is a gravel path, with some areas smoother than others, and a series of small bridges to cross. The terrain in...More

I've done all these, but recently spent all my time birding in the spring - seeing the migrant warblers, etc, when they arrive. Started my birding in Shawnee on Delaware...More

This park offers some really nice trails. However, the signage in and around the park is horrible. Even using the park website to locate trails proved to be difficult to do. It seemed easy enough. You click on the "Directions" button and it links you...More

In New Jersey and Pennsylvania the Delaware National Recreation Area has many wonderful hiking trails. My favorite, and a favorite of many, is the Red Dot Mount Tammany Trail. It's one heck of a climb but the two views are worth it! The Mohegan Outdoor...More

When driving on Interstate 80 and crossing from PA to NJ (or viceversa), make it a point to stop and admire a grand scenic view. Through eons of time, the Delaware River has carved a gap through the Appalachian Mountains here. Many hiking trails are...More

Edge of the woods was the outfitter we used. They were very nice and the trip was great. I recommend to get on the water early if you like to avoid the crowds!
