We made an unexpected visit to the Furnace on a rainy Sunday and had the best time. The grounds are beautiful and the history was so rich and informative. Our guide Karin made us feel like family and was extremely knowledgeable. Glad we went.

The historic tour starts will a film that explains two hundreds that contributed to this 1000 acre plantation, ownership, and the ore business that operated here! $6 was well worth the couple hours and you could spend a day exploring all the buildings.

A great place to discover the process of steel making from iron ore! This place is under appreciated! Take a couple hours to take a tour and learn the reasons this was so important to the soldiers of the north during the civil war.

I truly consider this museum to be a must see. Think of how plastic is used to make objects in our everyday lives. Back then, many of the everyday items were made from iron. This museum does a fantastic job of telling the story of...More
