I was running errands and needed to stretch my legs.......that is when I stumbled upon this Battlefield. Not much to see, but interesting enough for history buffs. Plus you can get some pretty cool pics here with family for holiday cards 😉

It's actually a huge part of British and American History. The largest battle of the Revolutionary War took place here. In addition to the war, you see what life was like during the 17th and early 18th century America. Beautiful grounds and very nice tour guides.

A memorial to a time when the struggle for freedom cost so many lives. This is a beautiful setting to sit and meditate on America's Freedom.

Stopped at the end of a day touring gardens. Stopped at the visitor center and then drove to the graveyard as the houses had just closed for the day.

Our step on guide was spectacular - his knowledge in every aspect of the Brandywine Battle is mind blowing. Friendly, nice gentleman that made the tour and visit awesome. We first watched a video which is a nice introduction to the battle.

When my husband and I got married we wanted to do something a bit different for our wedding pictures and since we lived in Delaware County our entire lives we were familiar with Brandywine Battlefield. We got married down he road from the battlefield and my dad is a huge history buff so this just made sense. Having the Gilpin... More

First we watched the video in the Visitor's Ctr and it provided an interesting, informative background to the battle in the surrounding area. Then we went over to Washington's Headquarters. Our guide had been working for the park for only a few months and didn't have a set speech for the tour. He seemed to be looking around at the... More

We had an excellent tour of Washington's headquarters in the Ring House, and I think it would appeal to school-age children. The museum is small but nicely-done and interesting. Unlike many battlefields with contiguous land, you need to either do a self-drive tour to scattered locations through the remarkably beautiful countryside or hire a guide to obtain a good sense... Brandywine was a very important battle, which allowed the British to occupy Philadelphia during the Revolutionary war. Washington was outflanked by British forces and suffered a serious defeat. However, one major advantage came out of the affair; Lafayette, although wounded, commanded an excellent rearguard action, which saved the Continental Army. As a result, Lafayette gained important stature not only in... More

While there are a couple of structures on the property, only the visitors center and Washington's Headquarters are open to the public. The visitors center has a few small exhibits to give you some background and a good 20 minute video with reenactors explaining the battle. The highlight is the tour of the HQ that takes place on the hour;... More
