TThis is a ruined abbey in a beautiful location. You can wander around and look up close. The nearby graveyard has a list and a map of all those buried there. It is worth a visit.

It is not a big abbey, but definitely worth a visit, as you will, most likely stop there for Croagh Patrick. Nice views over the bay.

The crumbling Abbey has a super huge cemetary overlooking the river. Some of the headstones are recent and some go back over 100 years. I was very moved by my visit, a special place to grieve.

This is down toward the water beyond the famine memorial. It is a very beautiful setting and a peaceful place. We only saw one other couple.

If you're in the vicinity of Crough Patrick take the time to drive down to the abbey ruins. The locations is unique as it right along the bay shoreline. The adjoining cemetery is huge and still actively used, which is not unusual for monastic site in Ireland.
