The Elk Country Visitor Center is a premier location for viewing elk and other wildlife in Pennsylvania. The center offers interactive exhibits and displays and encourages a 'hands on' experience. Our 4D story theater immerses guest in the history of Pennsylvania elk and the Pennsylvania Wilds. Our gift shop sell Made in the USA product, many of those by local artisans and product makers. The best time to view is early in the morning or in the hours before dark. Elk are wild animals and you can't be promised you will see them.

The visitors center is just beautiful. They have an informational video of how the elk came about in the area and it is neat how they made the theater for it. They also have wagon rides out into the area to get an up close...More

Interesting info prior to going out to see the elk. We didn't see any in the suggested places as it was mid day. Try going at dawn or dusk. We actually saw some from the road later in the day.

Very interesting and informative. Elk had been sighted just a few minutes before we went out for a walk to see if we could find any, gone by time we went out. Nice little gift shop with some local crafts.

After visiting the Elk Country Visitor Center, we took an evening drive through the area recommended by the staff and observed lots of elk in the Benezette area! Early October was an ideal time to visit!

There is a quite large parking lot in front of the Elk Country Visitor Center. The first thing I saw was a large statue of an elk, right in front of the entrance. There were some neat exhibitions inside the Visitor Center, but there was...More

The first or second week of October should be good for the leaves and the rut. I would recommend coming to this area during the week as weekends in October see a great influx ( sometimes more than 2,000 people) and HEAVY... More
