Beautiful scenic highway along the umpqua river. Many Elk to see on the first portion of the highway. To many photogenic spots to name. A wonderful road to head east.

We enjoyed the drive, but there were at least 3 construction zones in Aug 2018. There was also a truck painting the center strip at 3 mph with no passing for at least 5 miles. Very annoying!

I enjoyed this route better than Route 126 between Florence and Eugene Oregon. I prefer the 38 route more than likely since the drive tended to be more enjoyable. I would recommend Route 126 as well but for a while I can honestly text that...More

We wanted to see all of the great drives and this certainly was one. Our drive along the coast and meandering back and forth from the 5 freeway was just absolutely fabulous.

This is a beautiful coast route and seems like the best one off I-5 I've ever been on and I was born and raised in Oregon. Elkton has a couple of great restaurants (Arlene's) along the way and Tyee Landing restaurant is also VERY good!...More

Heading south from Highway 101 in Reedsport Oregon to Scottsburg Oregon apron 20 miles is just beautiful. The 20 mile drive travels the whole way along the Umpqua River. You will see a herd of Elk as you just head south out of Reedsport, and...More

From the off-ramp from I 5 to OR 38 to Reedsport can take from 2 to 3 hours (or more), depending on how often you stop to see the sights.

No, but there are several in the Eugene area along I-5, and the BW Salbasgeon Inn in Reedsport, at the coast end of 38.
