On the way from Bend northbound we stopped here. And it is just extremely beautiful and different. A rock landscape, desert like but with the green around the river. Surreal! The hike to the top is steep and hot during summer. Difficult but worth it....More

A beautiful spot with incredible views. We did the Misery Ridge hike (partially) and it was a good workout in an amazing setting. Bring plenty of water.

Five bucks to park and hike here is not a bad deal. We took the lower river trail and it was very doable. Saw a snake in the river but not on the path. Several signs about Rattlesnakes and a Cougar but no signs of...More

We only briefly stopped at Smith Rock State Park when returning home from the Painted Hills. Unfortunately we could only arrive mid afternoon during the hottest part of the day. It was well over 30c when we arrived and my wife chose to stay in...More

There are so many incredible sites to see and lots to experience throughout the Bend area, and Smith Rock was one we couldn't miss. With multiple trails to choose from, the kids and grandma went on the lower River Trail along the Crooked River while...More

Amazing place that is well worth the adventure, no matter your ability. At 60+, was tough on the knees, but still inspiring to go as far as we could. The peace of the river and grandeur of the rocks fills the spirit. There is plenty...More

Smith Rock is one of the best sport climbing areas in the United States! Located in the high desert in central Oregon. The main cliffs are made of volcanic welded tuff, and surrounding bands of columnar basalt lie above the winding Crooked River. This place...More

If you desire a moderately challenging hike with a rewarding view at the top this is a day well spent. The parking lot can be a bit crowded as it is a very popular spot for rock climbing.

Good hiking for different levels. Park layout Seems to handle large crowds. I very much appreciate the lack of hotels and restaurants which keeps the park more like a park

One of our favorite central Oregon spots...great hiking with choices for all levels. Although people should know that the hike back to the parking lot can be a challenge for young ones or others.

There is only one entrance/exit to this state park from Hwy 97. I would recommend to you to stop at the first parking lot in the park. From there leads a easy flat trail that takes you around the southern edge of the steep... More

You can see quite a bit from the parking areas. If you simply cannot get out of the car you can still get a decent panorama of the cliffs. Better, if you can park and walk to the rim at the various parking areas you'll get... More
