Spouse and I stopped by for a quick appetizer and flight of craft brews on our way to Prineville Reservoir State Park. The first thing we noticed was the cowboy town atmosphere, almost like a step back to another era. It was very relaxed and...More

This drive up the crooked river takes you through farm country and old lava era mountains. The geological beauty is worth the drive, the rover is flowing and it's just beautiful. Watch out the bicyclists, as the road doesn't really have a bike lane for...More

We were in awe as we drove all the way through down to Hwy 20. The rock formations and lava flows are a must see. I cannot say enough about this area and few people know about it, it won't be crowded.

I read the reviews and still was not prepared for how great this drive was, unbelievably gorgeous views. I did not think anything could top the 26/97 drive to Bend with the Cascades in the background, but this is the best drive in the area,...More

What a nice hidden gem near Prineville... Many small on the river campgrounds door the road South of town... All BLM so they are camping like it used to be before the behemoth RVs roll in... Go visit...

Very scenic road with lots of curves, towering cliffs, the river, and general central Oregon high desert charm. Lots of places to stop, some places to camp, and great access for those wanting to fish or view wild life.

We were able to stop at several sites along the way to take pictures. Saw lots of deer. Not a lot of traffic in Nov. It was great!

About 4 miles out of Prineville going towards Bowman Dam you get into the canyon and it is amazing. I have taken hundreds of pictures of this canyon and I have not been able to do it justice. It is a windy little paved road...More

We decided to travel back to Bend from Prineville along this route and we were amazed at the scenery. We expected a little road travelling through desert-like terrain and we found unique cliffs and rock formations, a quiet river and some areas to pull off...More

You can but you would have to time your trip to a water release. The Crooked River flow is controlled by the local water district at Bowman Dam. If your looking for a good raft trip on a specific date try somewhere else but... More
