- BruceBeavercreek, Oregon10 contributionsGreat concert. Electric atmospere.Went to a jazz concert. This place has a very lively, hometown kind of vibe. Mostly standing room, which actually lent to visiting with other concert goers. The ushers(if that's what you call them today) we're friendly and explained the safety rules. A great experience!Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 September 2023
- Dawn B1 contributionHope you can stand for over 3 hoursWe went and saw Tom Odell! HE was amazing!!! The venue however was less then desirable. They didn't have the balcony open and it was a large show! So absolutely NO seating downstairs! A very small section for those that were disabled. They got fold out chairs on the side in the dark. Not 1 other chair! Everyone had to stand for over 3 hours! I'm 49, in excellent shape and it was a lot to stand that long!! Even the 20 somethings were visibly tired and uncomfortable. I kept going to the bathroom just so I could sit for a minute. Not going back, no matter who plays there!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 October 2023
- Teresa S2 contributionsA little worn, but still rocks. Was able to sit in the balcony to see Lukas Graham and Rozzi. Roseland is a little beat up in a vintage way. Bathrooms were clean. Was grateful for plenty of security outside. Had a great time.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 February 2024

This venue SUCKS! The carpet is smelly and slimy, the vibes are scary, seedy looking people are at the entrance of the venue...I was worried of being mugged or pick pocketed! Too small with too many people packed in and the show was not even sold out. I would NEVER go back!

I decided to go down to Portland for a weekend get away, usually if I'm in a new city I look to see if there are any shows going on, thankfully there was. This is a venue I was hoping to check off of my list sooner than later, and I'm glad it happened. Roseland is not a modern, refurbished venue by any means, its old, its dirty, and dark, like most concert venues are. The layout is GA on the floor, and the balcony above is seated and wraps around. Catch a show here if you can, you wont be disappointed.

The bad reviews I am reading seem to be people that either had a bad customer service experience or did not know the type of venue they were going to. Throwback places like this are often a disappointment to those expecting modern theaters and concert venues. I thought the rustic charm in this place was great and the fact that Keane kicked off their North American tour here and was incredible will make this a memorable place for me. Yeah it’s old and small with a bad bar set up and miserable bathrooms but it’s an intimate spot to see a show. I like the place.

I drove yesterday from Seattle to see Nightwish. Have always been to Hawthorne Theatre till now. First time in Roseland and I was not impressed. I bought reserved seating on the balcony and going up there was a pain, had to wait in a long line with everyone wanting to go to the second floor bar. They allow people without seats on the balcony that creates a huge crowd upstairs. The seats are wooden, super tight and super uncomfortable. Just before the show started a tall guy sat in front of me and I was not able to see anything except his head. This prompted me to leave my seat and stand up with the rest of the crowd. The security were constantly moving us as we had to allow fire line to be created so people can walk there, super annoying. Basically I paid money for nothing as people without seats were also upstairs standing or even seating on chairs that were left empty when the show started. Going out was a pain as they have very small stairs that can't handle all the crowd trying to leave. Did not use the bathrooms so no idea of their conditions. I'm used to the venues were metal bands usually go but had some high expectation for Roseland based on reviews. Next time I won't be paying for seats as it does not make much difference once you are there.

Security did NOTHING to help my brother who got attacked right outside. They watched and did nothing!!! He was seriously injured! They lied to him and said they called the cops, but they didnt. The cop WE called said that the Roseland is a terrible place, and they will avoid calling the cops at any and all costs. The staff are a bunch of [--] and are terribly mean!!! The area is super sketchy and I will never go back there. I have been 3 times and have had a bad experience each time, so thats it. They may have good bands, but it isnt worth it! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, we made a trip out to Portland to see The Green, Sammy J & Leilani Wolfgramm perform at this venue because it was an all ages concert. (the concert back home -SF area- will be adults only) Nice, cozy venue. There's a separate 21+ area that's located upstairs -balcony SEATING. SEATING is the key word here.
There was no seating in the orchestra area downstairs. That's kinda rough when you have an all ages concert and have to ask kids (mine were 11, 12, 15 & 16) to stand all night. We got there at 6:40; doors were supposed to open at 7. The concert went to almost midnight! Great for the price and the music. Kinda rough on the youngest. It would be awesome if when there's an all ages event they identify an area that is kid friendly. If we weren't early enough to be in the front, my kids wouldn't be tall enough to see anything.
Other then that, cool venue. Super intimate. Fun.

Roseland Theater I have never been more disappointed for an event in my ENTIRE life.
My boyfriend is a big Michael Christmas fan so for his birthday I decided to suprise him with VIP for his PDX show. Bought our tickets back in July. The email stayed tickets would be released not till the end of September. We got our tickets to print out but NOT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT VIP.
Waited till the day of the show to call to ask for details.
Called at 2:50pm asking about VIP. The employee then proceeds to tell me he has no information and will take my name and number down to get the information and call me back.
Around 4 my boyfriend calls asking about VIP. Where the same employee I talked to tells him they've been trying to get ahold of the agency to figure out what time they want everyone to meet. So the guy then takes down Chris' name and number saying the same thing, once he hears he will call him.
It's about 4:30pm now with the show starting at 8. Chris then tweets at the artist himself asking about VIP. He tweets back saying "let make it 6:30".
So chris and I get ready and head to Roseland. We arrive at 6:10pm. Walk up front see no one but a tape on a wooden slate (which they were using as a door) saying "come through back". So chris and I literally walk around the entire block multiple times looking for a back door. Around 6:30 we decide to just hang out front and wait. Well we made eye contact with multiple employees inside the venue (even security) and not a single person opens the door to ask what's up. We then continue to call roseland and getting no answer all while the mail box is full.
Around 6:40 we hear Michael rapping! At which we continue to call and try to get inside. After waiting till 7:15 in the rain, being up since 1am, looking forward to this we decided to leave. Mind you the WHOLE time employees see us knocking on the door, and checking to see if they are unlocked.
The experience was totally ruined. I used PTO today to be able to go to the concert which we didnt even get to go. I'm out the merch I was supposed to get from VIP and we never got to meet Micheal!
Now I know on the phone the employee said VIP is set up by the artists team but the fact we couldnt even get into the building, no one was answering the phone and NEITHER OF US EVER GOT A CALL FROM YOUR EMPLOYEE WHO TOOK DDOWN OUR NAME AND NUMBER I'm blaming my horrible Friday night on YOU.

I came here for my first event and it was very uncomfortable. The bathrooms were terrifying, the nasty writing all over the stalls, the holes that looked like peep holes were just the cherry topping to it all and it made the whole place even more uncomfortable. Security was a joke, when you enter the theatre you walk through those things like at the airport and it's pathetic. It feels very unsafe there.

I spent many a weekend evening at this place growing up. It's a good spacious enough venue for a show and it usually brings in a good crowd of people. I don't really have much to say about the staff. The staff are everything you'd expect from a venue. Indifferent, uncaring and not there to provide customer service. They're there to get you in, get you out, make sure you don't wander around anywhere you're not supposed to be, or act like an idiot. What do you want? A mimosa at the door? Silly.
