Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had to send back one of the sausages because it was cold. It came back 5 mins later, only marginally warmer. When it came to make payment the guy was just plain rude. The quality of the food was a big disappointment and the German beers weren’t great either. I definitely wouldn’t touch this place again.

The food trucks out back were all closed because it was too hot, which is fair enough, the heat has been unbearable here over the last few days. What would be good is if the various food cart areas were able to communicate that they are closed. It’s very hit and miss.

I’ve given it two stars because the staff member who took our order was nice enough.

Before anything, this review is not about the food trucks which are amazing. This is about the bar service and staff which really has been the worst I had in a long time. Firstly, I was ignored by two different staff for at least 5 minutes when first ordering a drink, then subsequently was told "speak up you've got an accent" when I could order. Later when I ordered at the bar near the trucks, I was asked for an ID and for some reason my passport card (a legal passport in the EU) was not accepted. I am also 35! The tone and manner I was spoken to was unacceptable. Finally it is very pricey. I would recommend drinking elsewhere once you have the lovely food from the trucks

Great place for a beer on a hot afternoon. Large hoppy menu to quench the most discerning palates. Food looked amazing and plentiful.

This is the real thing. I texted a photo of the beer menu to my brother in LA who is a German phile.
He loved it! Any one of 15 beers would be the best in Portland. All 15 is an embarrassment of riches.
It makes you wish you could drink more. Smooth refreshing delicious. And no matter how much you drink. No hangover. It’s like magic. Perhaps it’s German attention to detail. Or just a crazy commitment to purity.
If you are not looking for an IPA this is the place.

Friendly spot with great selection of German beers. Beet salad was disappointing. Recommend getting food at one of the food trucks and bringing it over which seems to be what the regulars do. Great outdoor seating and fantastic ambiance.

Was stationed in Germany for 5 years with my family so it was a great to find several of my old favorite Pils on the menu. Love the relaxed outside area where you can sample food from some amazing food trucks, namely Matt's BBQ. The terrace has roofs and heat lamps covering a good portion to keep it comfortable in Pacific Northwest weather. All in all a great food and drink experience!

German beer. German pub food. All wood decor. Pretty cool.

The beer is not what I am accustomed to from a NW palate perspective. Call me an IPA drinker. However, the staff were super helpful and led me around the menu to find a beer that worked for my taste.

The large deck and airy floor plan seem like a compromise from the traditional 'beer hall' motif. It works. The place is very inviting and warm. Not to mention the close proximity to some of the best food carts in North Portland.

For me, the best part of the place is the staff. Super helpful, super friendly, and very courteous. Well worth a visit for a Bundesliga match on Sky Sports on a late afternoon in the winter. Now, that's why they made beer pubs?!

Great German style pub in one of Portlands laid back neighborhoods. Fun and friendly staff, excellent selection of German beers, simple but yummy menu. Surrounded by food carts that provide an excellent food choice that can satisfy just about everyone. A must do.
