Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Water level is low now so access to the island is very easy. Walk along the shore or through the wooded areas, uneven path but can simplify or climb some rocks as desired. There was easy access to swim, muddy bottom, some rocks, shallow.
Limited parking at the entrance.

I came out here on the weekend and started the hike. You follow the trail down to a small channel of the river. I saw a small garter snake slither its way across the trail and into the grass. Its body making an S shape as it sped to get away. I wanted to walk out to Elk Rock Island, but the water as of May is still too high to get on the island. I walked as far as the trail would take me which was too a boat dock on the river and I snapped some pictures. I was thinking of this young woman I saw I nicknamed "Daughter of Jesus" and if she was walking here all the baby deer, French lop eared rabbits, and of course any local basset hound would be protecting her as well as seven dwarves, sort of like in a Disney movie. Elk Rock Island is fun. I visited the prior year when you could walk out to the island. The best time to go is during the warm summer months when the water recedes and you can walk to the island and explore. The water was just too deep to negotiate on this trip.

Wonderful place to explore! Take in the views on that part of Willamette, watch the river boats and wildlife. Most access is in the summer time. In the winter the water is to high to get out to island
