On the surface, the Hollywood district doesn't look like much besides the obvious: transit hub, Hollywood Theater, Whole Foods, 24 Hour fitness, but in the recent year, I've explored the district more thoroughly, and discovered a good many hidden gems ... cafes, restaurants and such. Also, as others have hinted at, there are wonderful neighborhoods and hills to walk in.... More

There is construction on every block, lots of square ugly apartment buildings. But what is left is charming old craftsman homes on the small side. Eclectic gardens and collections of interesting and creative restaurants and stores on every street. Suggestion call to check if your destination still exists.

It used to be cooler but now it's gentrifying and becoming more generic. A lot of the oddness is gone.

I've avoided Hollywood district since moving to Portland, always shying away from areas with limited parking. Recently "forced" to visit for setting up a "Meet Up" event, I found paid parking easily ($5 for up to about 12 hours.) and started to explore. There are unlimited shops, pubs, restaurants, and just about every other place you can imagine in a... More

The Hollywood Theater is the center of the Hollywood District in Portland. The theater is out of yesteryear in style. It is supported on a non-profit basis and features tables on which to place food and beverages. If you like nostalgia, visit this theater!

It looks a new residential area with some modern buildings and a Whole Foods supermarket. It also has lots of restaurants and pubs. The Hollywood theater is a local highlight. It looks vintage and gives lots of character to this area.

Hollywood area is very eclectic and interesting--the theater is wonderful and renovated--but gets cold so wear a jacket. Area is full of cool shops and restaurants--best part is looking at old houses--stunning, elegant neighborhoods filled with lovely homes--with pubs, cafes, everything just a walk a way.
